No Chuck. You do know me…..

Your sister is two years older than me. Your once stepfather that worked with Mike and my Dad are close. That’s how I got to know Mike when I was growing up.

I guess you were a Freshman when I was a Senior. I actually knew quite a few of your comrades from that class for some reason.

Gotcha. Pretty sure I know who you are. I was watching an old LSU video on youtube and saw you in the crowd. Pretty sure me and Odie saw you at that game.

Anyone have pictures or videos from the flood of 1991?

I'll see what I have. I just remember it being the 1st time I saw both of my parents worried about a flood or really any weather event. We lived in River Oaks and somehow didn't get any water in our house.

I still don’t know how there wasn’t massive flooding following that event. It rained so much the Ouachita River changed course and ran from south to north for a while.

Don't forget the flood of 83, around Christmas. Reagan came to Monroe to survey the damage.

I never saw a community pull together in a crisis until that week. I had friends and friends of my parents that lived in RO. You could literally walk down Deborah and help sand bag and get fed like a king and drink all the beer you wanted. Every house was like that. It lasted almost a week I think where it was touch and go. I was about to leave for boot camp so I had kinda checked out anyway and damn near stayed hammered that whole time. You could sense the desperation in everyone's faces. People just wanted help.

I think the saving grace for Monroe was when the levees busted at Mollicy. That flooded all of that farm land damn near to Bastrop. If that would not have happened I think the river would have went over the levees in Monroe pretty much flooding the city. West Monroe almost bit it as well with that flood wall. Water was seeping through it.

I'm pretty sure that is also when Angus Chemical exploded in Sterlington too.

May 1st 1991 12:05pm I was sitting in the window seal when it blew out all the windows of the 9th grade general business class room.
Knocked several other kids across our classroom too.

But the elementary school got it way worse. We had to go over there to help evacuate the kids and we found them hiding all throughout the school.
