I think statute of limitations is only for crimes you weren't charged with.
So say you did something ten years ago and where just found out, then you couldn't be charged.
Since you were charged and didn't appear that parish had a bench warrant out for you. IIRC those never expire. I have heard stories of people being pulled over and having 20 year old warrants turn up. Even for minor shite.

They still held court and judge ruled in the Parishes favor because you weren't present. They usually issue a bench warrant. Since they evidently did not the fine imposed by the judge remained because of your no show.

Did this happen in a parish you resided in or paid taxes in? Thy only really check the places you lived.

yes, they can do it for 30+ years i believe.
when they passed the credit laws, to help the consumer, they allowed the cc companies to get a law where they can collect for 30 years i believe.
So ur debt will continue to get bought and sold to debt collectors.
I have one hounding me from 1996 debt, a $76 balance on a credit card. CC company tried to add some fee(they later got buttfricked by government for the fee) after i paid the balance off, i get a statement claiming i owe $76, i told them to frick off, and they interest fee'd and fee's that fricker to almost 2K. When i get the letters, i send back the letter telling them to frick off and eat a dick.
I ended up getting $30 from the class action lawsuit from their dirty arse shite. I always put that in the letter back also, thanking them for the $30, and how it hasn't and won't affect my credit rating.

It seems to me that you were charged with the crime and ordered to pay. The statute of limitations only applies to being charged with the crime.
If I committed murder and was sentenced to 25 years but escaped for 25 years, I would still have to serve when I got back.

failure to appear = guilty no?

nope, i had had enough of Nations Bank(BOA) and their scamming shite. I had a huge ordeal with them a month earlier, as i deposited my Bonus check from Chrysler, and took $600 out the next day, went to race track, won a little cash, go to deposit the shite i won and my account is -2300, even though i deposited a 2500 check 2 days earlier. They couldn't even figure out how they got to that number, i kept asking them where the -2300 comes from??? F'in worst bank ever.
They knew they were at fault(they honored Chrysler checks, on spot, to get people to bank there), but fought, and finally put my balance where it should of been, then told me i was lucky they took the 6 fee's they put on my account, and took off

I could be wrong but I was under the assumption that once you fail to appear you give up that right to be proven innocent. Was a bench warrant issued for failing to appear? Or did you sign a citation the night of the incident that you would appear?

If thats the case, I woukd contact the court and pay them the fee. It will be alot less than the 600 bucks. You could then send a letter to this credit agency showing thr balance has already been paid.
