It was more the idea that we were risking federal highway funds than this.

Still a terrible move either way.

I damn near lived in The Brown Door and Mule's

At first I didn't remember Mule's, but now I do. Mule's was Monday night and I didn't go out on Monday night much. I was usually in Chevy's on Extra Innings. Mickey's every once in a while. Only went to Brown Door a handful of times.

in just three hours, the bartenders made 116 alcohol sales to underaged customers, including Clementi.

fricking amateurs.

in late 90s (only couple years or so after law changed), Bars around Ncholls would hit that number in under 1 hour.

Don’t know, I know he’s wrestling for a school in California, may have been a going away night with his buddies, who knows…

No, but I heard one of those bartenders is the son of a well known Hammond area preacher.

Sports in Tigerland would let anyone over 18 enter but over 21 got a wristband so they could buy drinks. Somehow, a bunch of those wristbands ended up scattered on the floor every night.

They recently had that proposal from city council to ban under 21s from bars. There was a ton of pushback over it. I bet a councilman called in a favor to get this sting done to "prove his point."

That wasn’t Louisiana, it was the federal government under Clinton. They threatened to withhold federal highway funds if the drinking age wasn’t changed to 21. Louisiana was the last state to finally give in after a number of times trying to skirt the change.

21yo is a arbitrary number and complete bs, you can enlist in military and die in service at 17yo, u can purchase a rifle at 18 but not a revolver until 21yo. You can purchase cigs and dip or most any substance at a gas station other then alcohol.

It’s all a crock of bs.

When I was at Southeastern, the Door was pretty much a dive bar that played country music….

I can hear the words to a certain song that was played frequently throughout the night………..

“She ran of with another guy”……

Guy who owned it back then was a guy everyone called “Boss”.

Hammond PD are a bunch of pieces of shite. These three young adults get mugshots on the internet and an arrest record forever for something this trivial. They have a pattern of doing reactive things anyway, never about protecting or serving, just keeping the money flowing.

15 years ago it was money from MADD to set up checkpoints, and as soon as that dried up the checkpoints went away. Then someone's daughter got hammered at Your Mom's when it was a bar so they raided the place as payback. Now this because the stupid age increase got voted down.

Let's see if they have the same enforcement priorities for Hot August Nights (or whatever it is called these days) next weekend when all the non-college folks are downtown causing a commotion.

The feds were going to withhold highway funding if they didn’t raise the age.
