re: Halloween is being stolen from today's children

Amen to all of that. I do think it's more prevalent up North where the weather is cooler and their roots are tied to Halloween and the seasons.
It's a complete shame what Halloween has become down here. Ruined by mega churches, Trunk or Treating, and helicopter parents refusing to let their kids experience the same childhood they experienced.

Kids don't give a shite when or where. They just want candy

Halloween is evil, churches should not celebrate

If girls in slutty costumes is wrong, I don’t want to be right

Calm down? Are you fricking serious? These people are doing halloween wrong and ruining it for regular americans, and you want us to calm down about it? Your part of the problem. When the muslims take over and cut your penis off to make you use the bathroom they want, then maybe you'll see how much it helped to "calm down". If you're not outraged, thin you hate America.
(Yes I was crying a little bit when I wrote this, but that's just cause I love this country so much.)

This. Last year I had one knock on my door and I felt like I was about to be the victim of a home invasion when I opened it.
Halloween used to be awesome when we were kids. Just groups of friends running all over the neighborhood, people everywhere. No "put out a teal pumpkin to indicate healthy choices!" No vans full of juvenile delinquents invading neighborhoods. No trick or treating at 430pm. It's a shame to see what it has become.

Y'all act like this shite is new. I went to "fall" church events in the 80s to get candy because I grew up in a "Halloween is devil's night" family. The "poisoned candy" hysteria was also alive and well. Trick or treating in my neighborhood hasn't declined. Hell, even last year we had kids navigating around flood debris piles to find the smattering of houses that still had occupants.

I don't even know if it's about safety. Seems to me a lot of parents think it's to much of a hassle to follow their kids as they walk around the neighborhood for 2 hours. Which is sad.

Halloween is a bullshite arse holiday put here by the gov't to get all the kids hooked on sugar, which will lead to diabetes down the road which makes them want to suck off the govt teet even moreso. So yeah frick halloween and 'big brother'.
And yes I'm the cool one at the parties, as I bring the alcohol, drugs and puss.

When I was a kid, my neighborhood friends & I coordinated our trick or treat efforts. Someone’s parent would accompany us, but we did it of our own volition. Halloween seems more passive now, with parents coordinating & dictating everything. Fewer groups of friends going together. More individual clusters of parents & child(ren). I guess it doesn’t really matter since the kids don’t know anything different.

It's a pretty big deal here.

People busing their kids into good neighborhoods ruined it.
This.
They've recently started bussing themselves to my kid's school's trunk-r-treat and ruined that too. It's a vicious cycle.

I still see kids trick or treating at night ON Halloween here
Course, I'm not sure how much action my neighborhood gets. I've either had to work Halloween night or if I was off I was going with my nephew to watch him trick or treat in his neighborhood. In his neighborhood, most every house decorated and people sitting outside their homes passing out candy. Couple of the homes even do their own version of a haunted house that kids can walk through.
I don't see the hate for trunk or treating the weekend before Halloween. Gives the kid another opportunity to wear their costume and get more candy. What's so bad about that? My nephew went to a Halloween balloon festival Friday night and trick or treated there...is going today to a shopping center doing trick or treating for the kids, AND going trick or treating on Halloween night. He gets to dress up in his costumes(some he's wearing a costume from last year that he loved) and rack up on candy. He's 6...he's loving every second of it.
