Halloween has turned into a fragmented, watered down version of what is used to be. Instead of everyone trick or treating on Halloween night, parents take their kids to "safe zones" like churches or parking lots or down commercial streets where they can go collect candy while wearing a costume (I don't call that trick or treating). These events trypically aren't even on Halloween. Some towns schedule a night for trick or treating that's not even on Halloween night. Why!?

We are robbing our children of one of the most special times of being a child. There's nothing like trick or treating on Halloween night. Seeing mobs of kids all walking the dark streets at the same time, having nearly all houses in all neighborhoods with their lights on inviting trick or treaters, and being able to look forward to that night every year without having to ask "what night are we allowed to trick or treat this year?"

Halloween should not be a carefully planned, controlled event where old people force kids to engage in Halloween on the old people's terms. Halloween is Halloween and old people should deal with it and give the kids the Halloween they got when they were kids!

People busing their kids into good neighborhoods ruined it.

It’s not old people, dipshit. It’s “safe space” millennials, hipsters and homo’s.

Seriously, I never realized Halloween was such a touchy subject until now.

I don’t care how or when Halloween is celebrated. I just hope nobody passes out this nasty shite.

I agree completely. In the last few years, I’ve been shocked at the lack of kids out trick or treating.

I don’t know about other regions, but in the Bible Belt, I put it on churches. Churches have ruined Halloween with trunk or treat and holding events on Halloween night.

Halloween is a shell of what it used to be.

Nothing used to piss me off quicker than seeing an old lady come to the door with those godawful things.

People these days don't know the family down the street. They just follow them on FB.

We've done this stupid arse thread like 5 times already.

The kids who go to those trick r trunk events cannot go out in their neighborhoods at dark. They're great and the kids and families love them. They don't you trying to piss on their night of fun.

As for Halloween night, plenty of neighborhoods still trick or treat. My neighborhood has kids bussed in and it's non stop trick-or-treaters for hours. It's a blast.

frick off with your ignorant rambling nonsense.

Do you have kids? Do you participate in anything for Halloween in your neighborhood?

Or are you a young 20 something knowitall loudass keyboard warrior that doesn't know shite?

The OP must live in a millennial infested, a-hole community. Halloween is alive and well here in suburbia. I would guess that less than 10% of yoga pants wearing moms take their kids to this functions only.

Now, a lot of parents bring their kids to these functions but also let their kids trick or treat. With the cost of costumes these days, dropping $50+ dollars, or spending hours, on a costume to just be used for two hours is a waste, and they do these functions to get more use out of the costumes.

When my kids were younger, we did a lot of these functions, corn maze, pumpkin patch, etc., and on Halloween night, they went Trick-or-Treating
