Used to get it couple times a month but now I only get it 3-4 times a year. It is awful but I have learned how to just kinda roll with it now and just ride it out. Never a fun time though.

First time I ever heard of it was on this site and every time I read a thread about it I get worried it’s going to make me have one.

Lol started getting them when I was deployed overseas. Used to dream a dude snuck into our connex box at night and was gankin all of us with a blade. shite is infuriating. My eyes would be open and all you want to do is get up or move or snap yourself out of it but you can’t.

it would happen to me multiple times during the night.
When you realise it, or for me abyways..when I realise what is happening, I continously say to myself "move your hands" cause when you are able to move a body part it usually pulls me out of it.
Then I realised, I should try to move my legs instead. I found that moving your legs is easier and works just as well.

I’ve had it happen twice but not in close to a decade. Wild wild stuff.

Scary shite.

Happened to me once. I was asleep and for some reason my TV kicked on, full volume, at 3:33 in the morning. Probably due to an electrical surge, but it gave me the willies.
Went back to sleep, and a while later the hag got me. She was sitting on my feet and I couldn't move. Most scared I've ever been in my life.

I had that happened to me last year. I fell asleep on my bed watching tv and the ac kicked in. I thought a tornado was coming the moment the noise from the ac kicked in. I tried to get up to get my son in the other room but I could not get up. I tried everything and I was paralyzed. I woke up A minute later and it was just a regular night in the house lol.

I need to quit clicking on these threads. It only happened to one once ever. Sometime in 2019 not long after reading one of these threads. Someone mentioned wiggling your toes to snap out of it.
I couldn’t move but could hear everything around me. I was aware the entire time and recognized what was happening. I started trying to wiggle my toes. Once I could , everything else started to come back online and I fully woke up and took a huge gasp. It felt like it took less than 10 secs to snap out once I knew my toes were wiggling.
Maybe try that approach: “wiggle your big toe”
I did not go back to sleep that night/morning. I was too scared it would happen again.

Glad to say I haven't had it for a few years now. The first time I was by myself and saw the top of a head standing at the foot of my bed - I remember thinking it looked like some kind of troll or goblin. Then it started moving toward me along the side of the bed and I panicked not being able to move or call out. Right as it got to me, I snapped out of it and "woke up".
A few years later, I saw a human silhouette standing in the corner of the room. Involuntarily, I sat up in bed and starting yelling at it at the top of my lungs for several seconds before I regained my bearings. My wife didn't know what the hell was going on. I had to sit there with the lights on for 15-20 minutes before I calmed down enough to try to go back to sleep.

The night hag or old hag is the name given to a supernatural creature, commonly associated with the phenomenon of sleep paralysis. It is a phenomenon during which a person feels a presence of a supernatural malevolent being which immobilizes the person as if sitting on their chest or the foot of their bed. The word "night-mare" or "nightmare" was used to describe this phenomenon before the word received its modern, more general meaning.[1] Various cultures have various names for this phenomenon and/or supernatural character.
This has happened to me probably 10 times in my life and is the most realistic terrifying experience. It’s like you are in an actual horror movie about to die from this demon of death and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. I keep myself from falling back asleep when I finally shake out of it regardless of the time of night. shite cray

I have to do this whenever I get sleep paralysis or it happens again once I drift off.

I've had 2 episodes of it, one when I was about 18, no hallucination, but scary and felt very real.
2nd was when i was about 40, had the hallucination too, shadowy figure in my doorway approaching me, I knew what was happening, but very unsettling. Kept me from sleeping on my back for about a month.

Happens to me occasionally and mine are always dark, terrifying, gasping for air and sweaty when you snap out of it scary. Every time it happens, I want to run to church.

I've had it for years. It's more frequent when I'm really tired, so I try to get enough sleep every night. Also happens every single time I fall asleep on the sofa for some reason. So if I start getting drowsy while watching TV, I jump up quickly and go to bed. I also start praying when I'm paralyzed. It helps me stay calm.

Never had sleep paralysis, but every night about 2 minutes before I fall asleep my body experiences a surge like an electrical overload. Sometimes my whole body jumps. It’s very quick and I feel relaxed afterwards. Then I rapidly become unconscious.

That happens to me, too! It's so weird.

only really get it when I take a nap after pure exhaustion.
One of the most terrifying feelings
If you train yourself to recognize what's going on then you can roll with it and it's actually quite fun. Like a free acid trip
