Countless times coming home from Tennessee/NC/Georgia I have driven for 8/9 hours on those interstates with no issues, then get on 12 in Slidell and its like people have just been released from the insane ward. The stark difference in the amount of cars on the road coupled with the aggressive low IQ drivers on 12 is astounding
All of this. Driving on 55 or 59 and then exiting on to 12 is like entering hell. All of the land under 12 is cursed and most of the drivers become possessed.

Pinhook, between the Vermillion River and Evangeline Thruway, has to be the narrowest 4 lane road in the world.
It’s because they took a 2 lane road with a middle turning lane (3 lane width) and made it into a 4 lane road without the ability to go wider due to existing buildings
South College is the same way and of course half of the drivers struggle to stay in their lane with such a low margin or error
While we are on the subject of bitching about Lafayette drivers- most of these motherfrickers are either too lazy or too entitled to use their god damn blinker . I travel all over the country for work and Lafayette is the worst place for that shite

I've been on a couple of projects in Lafayette for the last two years and I agree. I've never heard so many people honk the split second the signal turns green. I guess you're expected to have a trans lock on during red with the tach pegged to launch as soon as green flashes.
Both super aggressive and dumbass drivers make for fun drives.

That's because Couyon Duhon has his head everywhere but on the road. Funny thing is, it's not always even the cell phone that's distracting them

quote:The Vermilion River cuts through the city and there’s only 6 bridges that cross the river, making it more congested than it should be.
I've also never seen a more poorly laid out city.
And going east to west or vice verse is slow because there’s only Johnston St. north of the river.
So yeah, the layout sucks.

The traffic lights are incredibly out of sync, you pass a green light to a red light in 20 feet.
fricking University is the worst. Johnston isn’t much better.

Been to and driven in Houston, Dallas, Boise, SLC, DC, Raleigh, Miami, Kansas City, all for multiple days on trips.
Lafayette is more fricked up than all of them.

For pure gridlock, though, LA and DC rule, and the stats bare that out. Lafayette does suck, but you're high if you think it's worse than them.

Don’t come to Houston. You’d hate it

It’s south Louisiana. We’re surrounded by low IQ goobers whose only thought is their next beer or hit

This. The problem is once a light turns red, 5 more cars go through it. I wait on purpose not to get in a wreck. I know most and myself included don’t like red light cameras but these idiots around here need them.

The scariest traffic I've been in was between Dallas and Austin. Three lane interstate with the traffic all going 83 mph and a quarter car space between vehicles. Everytime I backed off someone's rear another car would change lanes and take that spot. Happened so often I almost ended up back in Dallas, where I began.

So I’m going to say what everyone is thinking ….. it’s the young black folks. It’s not everyone it’s just them that drive really bad

That’s not at all what I saw.
I saw fat white guys driving the most aggressively.

It's that river. And in the olden days there were only three roads coming into town. Plus the railroad crossings. I know it's better now.

Lafayette drivers are the worst in the nation. The turning lanes all over the main roads are awful and a training ground for nuts. Normally you’d hope the city would improve things, but after what they did to Camilla and Johnston, no thanks. The good news is you can drive here, you can drive anywhere in the US
