The only way to teach them a lesson is to run over some of them

I love passing them and then slowing down and coming to a FULL stop for several seconds at a stop sign (while pinned against the curb). Then I laugh as they all have to unclip there feet from the bike.

"Did you see us slow down for it?" I replied "Yes. Congrats, but it's not a slow sign..."

Texas DPS pulls over a driver with his buddy riding shotgun. Driver pulls one of those slow California stops, so the pull over. Trooper asks the driver why he didn't stop? Driver replies, "Well I slowed down at the stop sign." Trooper starts swinging upside drivers head with a big ol' flashlight. All the while asking if driver wants him to slow down or stop?

Driver yells STOP and the Trooper stops. Trooper walks over to his buddies side and has him roll down his window. Trooper starts swinging upside his head for a few good whacks and stops. The buddy howls out, "What did you do that for?"
Trooper says.....Because I know, as soon as ya'll get down the road a way, your gonna tell your friend here, "I wish he'd have tried that on me!"

I'm just making your wish come true.
What wish?
ya'll were get down the road a way, and you were gonna tell your friend here, "I wish he'd have tried that on me!

They should be thankful that you didn't do a police pit stop on them and introduce the bushes to them.

I would love to ride bikes on the road, but it's the likes of the asses in this thread "Run over them" that prevent my doing so.
Bikers get killed every day from either drivers not paying attention or drivers being deliberately aggressive to bikers.
Downvote me if you want, but it's people like yall that can't and won't just share the road.
I know bikers can be pompous and that also prevents my wanting to bike.

Meanwhile, I just stick to my mountain bike riding, which I enjoy more anyway.

I have a habit of pinching them to the curb as they try to “slow” a red light.

I ride MTN bike and hate road bikers

Not many of them here in Iowa City. It is college kids on scooters, thinking that they are on sport bikes, trying to lane filter in moving traffic that seems to be the issue here.

Those that are on road bikes seem to stick to the country roads. I can give them plenty of room out there.

In SLC, road bikers hogged lanes continuously. Especially on the canyon roads. I would see them on state hwy35 from Kamas to Hanna. I fished the river in Hanna. Nothing like coming around a blind corner at 35-40 to see a biker right in front of you.

Adding to this, Utah roads have some of the most extensive bike lanes of anywhere I've ever been. Not all rural roads, but most urban/suburban roads have a bike lane. And Utah has a 3 foot rule where motorist must give bikes 3 feet on passage.

They all know this and take full advantage of it.

The rule where they do not have to fully stop at a stop sign is trash. It is only if there is no oncoming traffic and they ignore that.

I hated driving anywhere north of 900 south.

Yes. Congrats, but it's not a slow sign..

The hilarious thing is that it is a slow sign for them.

quote:

The Idaho stop is the common name for laws that allow bicyclists to treat a stop sign as a yield sign, and a red light as a stop sign. It first became law in Idaho in 1982, but was not adopted elsewhere until Delaware adopted a limited stop-as-yield law, the "Delaware Yield", in 2017. Arkansas was the second US state to legalize both stop-as-yield and red-light-as-stop in April 2019. Studies in Delaware and Idaho have shown significant decreases in crashes at stop-controlled intersections. In France and Belgium, some intersections use red-light-as-yield signs.

That's not true.

See above. It's a yield sign for them.

If other traffic has a stop sign, they are required to yield. They don't have to stop. Of course if there is cross-traffic that doesn't stop they must ensure they have ample time to cross, or else they need to stop. But if that's what we are bitching about I can show you hours of dash cam footage I have of people in this state being just as guilty in a car. Only difference is those people in the cars are much more likely to be drunk or high while operating the motor vehicle. At least the cyclist isn't being a fat frick.

Why is this hard to understand?

Not hard on my end. Why is "oncoming traffic" hard for you? This denotes the cross traffic does not have a stop sign. I said nothing else to get you on the high horse. Settle down little guy.

Is there a legit reason a bunch of dudes on their morning ride have to all dress out like they’re riding the Tour de France? I never understood this.

The kit has a purpose. It is simple -- the saddle on a road bike is typically made of hard plastic and is not very comfortable to sit on for extended periods while riding.

The shorts or "bibs" have padding in the butt and crotch area to help make sitting in the saddle for hours more comfortable and protect your nuts (a little) from the repetitive motion of pedaling the bike.

The shirt, or "jersey," is typically made of Dri-FIT or moisture-wicking material to keep you cool as you sweat when riding.

Yes there is a purpose to the uniform like in every other sport.
