If you are heading to the new airport and you plan on parking in short term parking while you pick someone up do not go the arrivals route. They designed it so that between the rideshare lot and arrivals area, all of the short term parking traffic, long term parking traffic, taxis, uber, lyft, budget shuttles and regular arrival traffic is funneled into two lanes. This can take some time to get through at some points in the day and it is unpredictable as to when it will be an easy run or backed up. On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving I was picking my son up after midnight and it took a half hour just to get from the rideshare lot exit to the short term parking entrance. If you simply go up the departures ramp there is an entrance to short term parking at the far end of the dropoff area and you avoid that bottleneck.

I figure there are a limited number of folks that park to pick folks up so I will take my chances.

This Sunday I thought the traffic on I-10W which was backed up from Kenner to past Causeway was the airport but I took Veterans and it must have been Bayou Classic traffic because I got in and out of the airport quickly for a dropoff at departures.

when you know it’s gonna be busy just pick your passenger up at departures. Why are you parking to pick somebody up?

You suck OP this was not to be posted on this board. Now every Soccer Board poster will clog up that secret entrance way.

I'm flying out this weekend. Now that I know where the bottleneck is, I'll make sure to stop there and ask for directions.

This is like when I posted the map to the secret exit to free parking for Saints games and now there is traffic there.

Don't share driving hacks on the internet.

If you can still park in the old parking lots and walk straight to the new terminal, why is everyone talking about the need for a new interstate exit and new roads? I don’t understand what is different.

I usually only do it when it is one of my twins coming back from college and they have checked baggage. I would rather get there a bit early and wait.

Last Tuesday I got my son's bag almost an hour before him. The jetway at the gate was broken and it took a while before they finally pulled stairs to the plane's back entrance and allowed them to disembark.

If you do that, you'll take a chance at being hit by a large airplane moving at high speed. And if no planes hit you, the TSA will want to talk to you in a private room.

We drove to BR Sunday morning and was in this area around 10 am. Had nothing to do with the airport - the Loyola exit was wide open. Traffic was congested until about 2 miles past 310 when it just magically opened up. No accidents or anything.

Around 3 pm headed back to NOLA, saw the same thing headed on I-10 west.

I think it's just the Sunday after thanksgiving, everyone was headed back to Texas.

You can't. You can park in the old lots and take a bus, or you can park in the new lots and walk to the terminal.
