I thought he had three kids.

The quoted portion of your post literally references 3 different people. Can you not see that?

I know from the experience of my father passing that the funeral home handles the obituary as part of the cost.

It actually references four, but thanks.

I didn’t interpret the “him” as CD, hence my confusion.

1- the sixteen year old.
2- him
3- the 12 year old
4 - the oldest daughter

That’s four people. Is counting really that difficult for you?

I received more messages from the person who is the deceased's sister on FB. I feel uncomfortable bc this has become WAY too wtf for me to be at ease with. She says she tried to start her own acct here to explain things and couldn't figure out how and then goes on to say something about her posting under CD's acct bc of it.

Here's what she has messaged me since yesterday. I'd reached out to her expressing sympathy for her loss and explained the situation and the need for verification that it was not a scam and this is what followed. I'll let y'all draw your own conclusions.

Yikes. If true, I feel bad for the family but the way they are all acting, I doubt this money goes to the funeral or the kids.
I'm glad I didn't donate to this one. I have done it in the past

Or, did we invest $22,000 in a great story?

I truly believe that they think that TD.com is responsible for distributing or withholding the money. I don’t think that they are competent enough to ever get the money from the GFM without someone else’s help

Exactly. The Xanax bottle is half-full.

It definitely has been a fun thread to follow the past two days. The GoFundMe is down to 20k now.

I don't know what to say. I'm sorry all this got so twisted. Again, I am the aunt and found y'all from the Go Fund Me page. It wasn't hard. I cannot begin to tell you how thankful the family is for what you did for them, even though it doesn't appear that way. You saw a need, jumped in and tried to help with their suffering. You should always question the validity of something like this, kudos to those that have.
Carri had knee replacement surgery, was suffering in immense pain and had very low blood pressure, they sent her home anyway. She passed away while David (Eric) was getting her prescriptions filled at the drug store.
They are grieving, they truly are struggling financially. When my sister died, I was in a fog for weeks. It took a week for the state to do the autopsy. The funeral home cannot move forward until they get the body back from the state of Alabama. The funeral home has been mentioned, it's Glencoe Hokes Bluff Funeral Home, I'm not involved in the arrangements so I have no idea of the cost but I heard around $8,000. I posted my personal information before but removed it at the suggestion of another poster. You can reach me via email at CathyatHelms@gmail.com or on FB messenger my name is Cathy Sasser Helms.
Again, I think they understand if you are second guessing all this, I do. It's been very difficult for us, Carri's mom is not well herself. I hope this helps clear some confusion. I again, do believe the funds raised will pay for the funeral, give the kids and grand kid a wonderful Christmas and perhaps David can get a reliable car since the one he has is not running.

I’m a long time lurker and don’t ever post. I now have something to say. Sonya, your numerous posts have done far more harm to this terrible situation that all of CDs erratic behavior did. You have insulted and demeaned a group of complete strangers who did nothing but raise a tremendous amount of money in an effort to help your family who are experiencing a tragic situation. They did it out of the goodness of their hearts.

I’m sorry for the loss of your sister and I’m sorry that the family can’t cover the funeral costs. No one would have requested their money back had Eric not acted in such a strange manner. But you have taken that to a new height by coming in here on his account and blaming others for not being able to access the GFM and demanding an apology. Who in the hell do you think you are?

Additionally you have not answered any direct questions that were posed to you.

I have watched this group help different people in different circumstances tremendously over the years. How dare you act like some entitled little girl? I’ve anonymously contributed to their causes, and I contributed to the one for your sister. I have now requested a refund of what I contributed simply because of your posts.

I strongly suggest that YOU apologize to all of these people and go sit down and think about your behavior. Before doing that, for God’s sake go through all of your posts and remove all of the names of your nieces!! I have no words for you having posted their names on an Internet message board.

I am one pissed off Cajun Grandma right now! You are one hell of a piece of work!
