I too have a problem with how this went down, but not because of these things. It's pretty obvious from the camera position and resolution it's just a regular security camera inside his home. Lots of people have them.

His "getting geared up" was maybe a 15 second grab of helmet and vest and gun next to the bed. I keep similar items I'd grab in the event of hearing something rummaging around my kitchen or living room.

My problem with the whole thing is his almost joyous intro and reaction to the camera, like he has been looking forward to this moment. And while the bear did appear to move quickly in the split second low resolution frame we saw, it was a juvenile black bear and they're more likely to run away from commotion than towards it.

Brown - lie down
Black - fight back
White - say goodnight

There's videos ALL over the Internet of people chasing black bears out of homes, cars, driveways, tents, camps, carports, etc just by clapping loudly or making noise while standing firm. They even run away from calm speaking and presence, they're pretty skittish

Dude is, as he says, walking into a room with an unknown intruder. The guy is a cosplayer

Yep, I've had 2 year old black bears come at me and we both lived.

I googled "guy shoots bear in kitchen" and found the original video from his home surveillance camera.

The video posted here is edited. He didn't have on any tactical gear. He didn't stop to narrate anything. He simply goes down the stairs, enters the kitchen and shoots the charging bear.
