Guy loses job offer after suggesting strip club as a lunch option to future employer

Well, my job offer at Box got rescinded.
This post is definitely going to out me to anyone who knows the story but oh well.
I went to a conference during the end of August and went out to each lunch with my soon-to-be team. They wanted fried chicken and I suggested Gold's Club because it's cheap and a buffet. One of them remarked, "Isn't that a strip club?", to which I responded oh yeah I guess so, but a lot of people go there for business lunch. We laughed about it and went somewhere else
A few weeks later I got a call from my manager at Box saying the interaction was inappropriate and that there was a zero-tolerance policy on that. I apologized directly to the people I ate lunch with, and they both seemed like they were fine with it. My soon-to-be manager assured me that my job was intact, and went out of his way to ensure me that I was fine. We had another exchange two weeks later and he reassured me that everything was golden.
Last Thursday I got a message from my Box manager saying he wanted to chat on Monday. I asked if it was urgent, and he said no and that we'd talk on Monday at 1pm. Friday he sent me a calendar invite for Monday at 3pm and I accepted.
Took the call today and they told me they "re-reviewed the incident and decided it wasn't acceptable".

OweO just told us like two weeks ago that business lunches are common at strip clubs so this guy must be lying as we know OweO does not.

It blows that the guy got fricked over what was most likely an obvious joke, but it should also be obvious to anyone with an IQ above room temperature that such a suggestion is stupid to make in a professional setting unless you are bros with the audience.

Pretty inappropriate in a professional setting.
ESP if the guy is trying to be on the top of his game in an effort to impress his future employer.

I gotta admit that I would've thought a company named Box would've appreciated such a lunch setting

Not even day one and already suggesting strip clubs for business lunches? Bold move cotton.

but to me Gold's Club is "that place with the really good fried chicken"
The best fried chicken I've ever had was at Michael's Men's club in Lafayette. shite was amazing.

I miss living in a city with a good strip club lunch buffet

Jesus this is fricking stupid.
AT THE MOST, they could have called the guy in and gave him a warning. If this can get you fired, you honestly have to keep your conversations at work limited and ask yourself if what you are about to say can be taken the wrong way.
It's pretty common for a company to take a client to strip club.. Well, I don't know if common is the right word, but it's not unusual for it to happen.
The only thing I see wrong is him actually wanting to go eat at a strip club, but that's a preference...

Stfu Chris. You have no idea what you’re talking about. As usual.

you have to be a dumb motherfricker to suggest a strip club lunch with a bunch of new co workers you dont know.

Was that wrong? Should I not have done that? I tell ya, I gotta plead ignorance on this thing.

100% truth story lol
In 1998, my boss took our team of about 7 to The Lodge for lunch in Dallas. I mean, they had great damn food, too. A week later, we were all suspended for a week without pay. I still laugh but SMH over it when I tell that story.
