Seemed like a pompous a-hole to everyone. Never. Understood the love for that smug cocksucker.

I have really enjoyed his COVID episodes so far. His favorite places ingredients to his house and instruct Fieri and Son how to make it via Zoom.

The hype for his restaurants was high profile. They're located in places like Manhattan and Vegas, and the promotion was loud and prominent and hard to ignore. Not that they were considered high brow dining.

Overstood.

That's nice, but what there restaurant workers need is the ability to go back to work. Charity is fine, but not sustainable.

True

But at vleast Fieri is trying to control what he can...that's fundraising. He can't control mindless governors

Fun story - I met Guy Fieri when I was on one of his shows here in NOLA many years ago. Dude was kind of a dick to be honest. When the camera's weren't on he refused to talk to anyone and would have someone follow him around with an umbrella and a water bottle spritzing him to keep him cool.

But I applaud him for supporting the industry and raising this kind of money for people.

ETA: Maybe he was just having a bad day, but it was apparent he could turn off the personality when the camera wasn't on. Maybe ole baw wasn't used to the south Louisiana heat. But there's a picture of me and Guy, with him looking less than enthused. My dad framed it and put it in my parents house. It cracks me up every time I go visit and I see it.

I have been around a few movie and TV sets and he may be a jackhole but it also may be how he handles days he films as wants to concentrate on getting it dome. Imagine you are at work and everytime you take a small break a new stranger comes up and has a conversation with you? As for the umbrella and spritzer, if he sweats too much he probably has to go back to makeup.

I was on set for Cirque de Freak and saw both sides. Salma Hayek was as nice off as on camera. My son was 8 and he walked up to her as soon as they cut a scene and she treated him wonderfully. I then saw William Dafoe go full attitude on a few people when the camera cut. Someone said he was like that on filming days and it turned out to be true because I got to meet him at a cast party and he was a gregarious guy.

Maybe he was trying to work and didn’t have time for small talk? Most things I hear about him are positive. I’m gregarious as can be unless I’m focusing on what I’m doing. Then I’m not.

As for the umbrella and water bottle, sounds like a good idea anywhere in Louisiana about 10 months out of the year.
