Guaranteed that the shooter has previous violent charges that would have had him in prison currently, but were pled down and he was given time served, probation or completely dropped.

Most people know this isn’t true. But you know what? St George is a reality now so why do you keep spreading these lies? That’s racist.
Because he is an insuffrable douche - so much so that if you cut him open he would bleed vinegar.

Just checked out where this was at in BR. It’s across from Nash’s Tire Shop and Rims, Jasmines Beauty Supply, and Save More Meat Market. Based off of this I’m guessing the rim shop with Save More a close second for the shooting.

It most definitely is in this state.

they only can arrest them and file charges. The breakdown occurs after that. Of course now they don't even bring car break in thieves in for booking they just write a summons and I am sure that call is not theirs.

the real issue is not properly prosecuting and sentencing.

I was there in the front watching my grandson's team play. It was approx 12 shots total and not an automatic weapon. Kids on the fields went to the dug out of hit the dirt where they ere on the field. All play was suspended for 15-20 min.

One would have to assume given the neighborhood that Traction has a plan to secure entry in a situation like this.

I was at a football game near a "sketchy" area a couple years ago when something transpired nearby at halftime and game management and security blocked all entry to stadium and we continued the game. People could leave but nobody could get in.

It's a shame it's come to that but, similar things happend in the integration era and shortly there after the Chalmette / Holy Cross "tear gas game" is etched pretty well in my memory.

Looks like it was a homeless man killed on Old Hermitage

quote:

The shooting happened around noon Saturday, March 7, on Old Hermitage Parkway near General Jackson Avenue.

That location is in earshot of several ballfields at BREC’s Hartley/Vey Park at Gardere and Traction Sports. Both spots are typically filled with families on sunny spring weekends, watching their kids play baseball or softball.

Detectives are still trying to identify the man and locate family members. Deputies believe he was homeless.

For reference Traction is the blue square. The apartment area on Old Hermitage is the red oval.

Stuff like this is why I always open carry, as soon as I hear distant gunshots I whip around and indiscriminately let off 10-12 rounds in the general direction

Managment has also done a yoeman's job keeping the parking lot safe over the years.
I worked there at one point. If an undesirable so much as stepped foot into the parking lot, threats were made to call the police and things were kept in order.

Gates were closed at all times during the day on weekdays until teams showed up for practice/games.

Never dealt with any violence or gunshots from the Gardere side surprisingly.

ETA: Not enough people in this thread grew up playing at the old Carrolton in Hollygrove. That's where the real fun was had

If you ever wonder why eyewitness reports are inaccurate, this thread is a perfect example. 4 witnesses...

"approx 12 shots total and not an automatic weapon."

"15 shots not automatic"

"Easily over 30 shots and very clearly an automatic weapon. "

"30-50 shots. Automatic weapon for sure"

Too much money in Traction to not run it that way. I know we would stop sponsoring if it went downhill

That’s actually the part the city of BR didn’t include when they annexed the Lauberge Casino.

Nah, the really racist part of this is that the City of BR went around them to the river bank to get to L'Auberge Casino. Gardere is surrounded by the City of Baton Rouge on three sides, and is in unincorporated no-mans land. At least St. George gave them an option. BR just said NOPE.
