I am looking up gun laws by state because I am curious why no one has shot any of these looters who are protesting.

If a mob of people come into your business I would consider that a threat. Legally, is that considered a threat?

If people start lighting up some of these people going into businesses why has no one shoot at any yet? It seems like there is little risk for them to do what they are doing.. But I bet if there was a chance someone would shoot those clowns they will start thinking twice.

Laws don't matter if the DA is a leftist.

You should ask the poliboard first and then get accurate information from the outdoor board

I suspect it's past closing time for the businesses and the owner just trying to GTFO of the area. But if you stay behind and shoot one you better have cameras rolling from inside and outside and a couple different angles to get the whole story out there.

In some states, a business owner working to earn an honest wage to provide for their family is counter productive to certain political ideas.

Check out “ castle doctrine” in Wikipedia. It gives you a list of states that you can stand your ground or if it’s your duty to retreat.

Please don’t conflate looters as protestors.

People have a right to peacefully protest

I was taught in my CHL class that you can be completely in the right with a defensive shooting but it is going to run about $150K in legal fees to prove you were in the right. Biggest thing you learn in a CHL class is shooting someone is to be avoided is at all possible.

PS I live in Texas

Even if someone breaks into your house and they have a weapon on them? In other words, even if its obvious does it still go to court?

Great take, no matter the law, if the DA goes after you and can get a supportive jury, you're toast.

A white store owner in Jackson, MS shooting black protestors (looters), would probably lead to a bad outcome, even with MS's strong "stand your ground" and castle doctrine laws.

This has proven to be the case lately. All depends on the DA as others have said.

Criminally you may be good. But defending the wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family will cost $$$$ to defend. Even if you "win".
