Gun goes off when man "drops" it in Cracker Barrel

Seems like a lot of details are left out of the story. How in the world does a pistol fall out a holster while you are just standing up? Also, what kind of gun it that went off from falling out of a holster?

As I've been told, unless that gun was made before the 1960's, there's no way that gun went off just by hitting the floor.
