The suspects, identified as 28-year-old Jimmy Suggs and 26-year-old Zackary Kuykendall, hail from Vinemont, Ala.

KUSA - Two out-of-state campers have been arrested for arson in the Cold Springs Fire, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.

The suspects, identified as 28-year-old Jimmy Suggs and 26-year-old Zackary Kuykendall, hail from Vinemont, Ala.

Both men face charges for fourth-degree arson, according to the sheriff's office, and have been booked into the Boulder County Jail.

Investigators say they were able to determine that the origin of the fire was a campsite near the Peak-to-Peak Highway and Cold Springs Road.

Deputies say the suspects, along with a female friend who does not face charges, were camping on private property and lit a campfire overnight Thursday into Friday morning.

The sheriff's office says the men did not ensure the fire was properly extinguished before they left, and that winds -- combined with the hot and dry weather -- allowed the campfire to keep smoldering.

The fire eventually spread through the campsite, starting the fire, which was first reported on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

The fire has grown to 538 acres and forced almost 2,000 people to evacuate since it broke out. Three homes have been lost to the blaze -- and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office says that number is expected to increase.

Yep....one of the areas evacuated around SugarLoaf houses a couple of my wife's co-workers. Not a good thing and yesterday was hotter than hell and dryer than a popcorn fart. Today is better with lighter winds and a bit more humidity.

LSU was playing Auburn at the time... both were ranked with Auburn in the teens and LSU in the 20s

LSU won 19-15... with less than 1:30 left Raion Hill INT'ed a Auburn 2PC that would've tied the game all the way the other way for 2 LSU points

I know all of that, but the building that burned had some connection from LSU, like maybe it was dismantled and taken to Auburn and rebuilt there

I don't know much about the law in this situation in terms of liability, but one would assume they're going to have a pretty hefty financial liability for the damage after the fire is out. I'd like to think the homeowners' insurances cover fire, seeing as how they live in a natural wildfire zone anyways. Arson could be different though.
