30A

But just north of Tampa south to Marco Island has by far the best beaches in the state, and arguably in the Continental U.S.

I'm in Rosemary now......love it.

For the life of me, I cannot see how anyone would knock 30-A without being insecure. Sure, the traffic in Seaside has gotten rough in the Summer, but to indict the whole area is shortsighted.

Don't understand the 30A car sticker obsession. What exactly are these people trying to brag about?

You are not in some super elite club bc you stayed on a shitty beach for a week last year. At least go to st.simons or one of the South Carolina beaches if you are going to throw a sticker on your car

I am slowly reading through this thread so sorry if this has been addressed. If you are comparing a South Carolina beach to a beach along 30a you are an idiot. Charleston is a cool town as are a lot of Carolina towns but the beaches in no way compare to gulf beaches.

Ive been to Orange Beach quite often... just rather the shorter drive compared to Destin...

Would rather just go to Pensacola and stay at the Portofino. Always have great experiences

Headed to Marco a Island on Saturday for 9 days. This time of year (their low season) you can get a very nice canal home with a nice pool for around $2000. We go that far down every 3rd summer and love Sanibel/Captiva as well.

Correct answer.

It's getting trashy now though. Too much new blood.

Time to move down the beach I guess.

Frankly ob is overbuilt and overcrowded. 30A is getting that way but for someone looking to own property that's where I'd buy if I didn't already have a place in OB.

If Fort Morgan ever starts to get overbuilt, I'll probably tie myself off.

Hopefully Fort Morgan will stay less crowded. I'd like to end up in Fairhope or Bon Secour with a gulf front spot in Fort Morgan.

That's laughable, and I lived there too. Water and sand quality in Tampa suck compared to the panhandle.

I'm going to Destin in a couple weeks and staying in some condos in/around Baytown Wharfe. What is that considered here, other than trashy?

Oh, and I'm nowhere near wealthy so I'll stay away from those stickers.

I'd much rather a Colorado sticker anyway.

I love those areas, and expect I'll retire somewhere between Siesta Key and Marco Island.

Sorry you had no clue where a good beach was when you lived here.

I'm not really talking about Tampa...... Although Caladesi is as nice as anywhere in the panhandle.

The sand here is softer. This isn't debateable. It is finer. Siesta Key is recognized for having some of the softest sand in the world.

Nobody in the state of Florida bothers with the panhandle, except to meet up with their family from other southern states.

Gulf Shores isn't crowd at all if you have a sister and BIL who live in Bon Secour and have a boat.

I road down 30A in the offseason a couple of years ago - what's that hideous town with the white block entrances and such down the road from the Truman place?
