I'm a clinical specialist in my field at my hospital. I write up nurses. Nurses don't write up me.

J/k, any nurse realizes the pharmacist outranks them in every way

That guy's post has to be the dumbest post I've read all day.

I know all about it. I was in a long term relationship with a pharmacist. Her senior year she did a rotation at a hospital and she said the first couple of days were eye opening. She then made the mistake of saying that after graduation she was going into retail (and to be fair she started as a tech at the company so once she graduated she would make more than other 'new' pharmacist plus she would get a little more vacation). Once she said she was going into retail the pharmacist turned bitchy.

Once she graduated and got her own store the company started adding more stuff for them to do like flu shots, going to campuses and old folks homes to give shots, going through Customers scripts and seeing if they could add/subtract medications and if she could find one call the person and try to convince them to change their current medication. She never understood why she had to constantly do this and she just didn't believe me when I told her that between Walgreens, cvs,rite-aid, Walmart ect something eventually will have to give. Last i heard about her her store was closing or closed. She never could grasp the concept of over saturation.

My GF (Nurse) literally contacts her cousin (Pharmacist) for questions regularly on medication/symptoms/dosages. She’s a rare breed of nurse though that, while loving and respecting her job, laughs at the incessant need for validation and applause from the public that her peers so desperately crave.

My cousin is also a pharmacist. But he lives several states away and I haven’t talked to him in a few years.

No one has to tell me twice that he is wayyy smarter than I am.

Yup profession is going to shite. 77/110 found a job or residency in my class, thankfully I was one. The class above me was only 60/110. Application numbers are down and they are slowly decreasing class sizes.

I’m not worried about tech though. The state I’m in we can prescribe B/C, narcan, be the prescriber on vaccines (no protocol needed) and we can write scripts if you have a collaborative practice agreement with Docs. We also have a huge robot that counts pills for us and we still are behind. Its tough to fill 1,000 scripts with 4 people and no lunch break most of the time. Its not fast food. You won’t die if you get the wrong hamburger and sadly with drive thru’s, people have placed a fast food like expectation on pharmacies.

Yeah that post is complete BS. I finished with a 3.4 in school and several of my retail friends were in Rho Chi. I had no interest in being a bitch and doing bullshite presentations that residents do. If you think we aren’t intelligent enough to impact patient care, I feel sorry for your ignorance.

I agree totally. The need for a pharmacist will always be there. I just don't think i would pursue it as a career if i was 17/18 and going to college. My ex was lucky to graduate when she did because like i posted before she was able to get a store. People who graduated after her were 'floaters' and were not guaranteed hours.

The technology thing will not eliminate the pharmacist but it can reduce the number of pharmacist needed. After a while when a pharmacist gets fired, quits, whatever the company can replace them at a much lower salary.

I used to give my ex shite (jokingly) that she was making way to much money to just count pills.

So one night she came home from work and she handed me a few pieces of paper (they were copies of scripts).... she said tell me what they say. Other than the numbers i couldn't read it.... so she read each one to me and said 'see thats why I make the big money'. We both laughed and I said her ovaries must be coated with titanium (our joke like saying a guy is walking with a hard on).... oh but that was when she was fun and her overall count level was low.

Actually the opposite. I wish she had shown her true self earlier in the relationship. Would have saved both of us time, money and effort.

Food is medicine, baw. If people ate right, we wouldn't even need the robot pharmacists.

Does anyone else hear an echo in here?
