Walmart has better gas deals and CC rewards so I make up for the Walmart Plus membership that way

The free shipping both offer is great, too

Ok. Define scan and go for me.

At Sam's you literally scan the item barcode on your Sams club app (via cellphone) while shopping. As you start walking your way toward the exit, you pay on your phone (after counting your items in the cart to compare whats on the app) then as you exit if you missed something a worker will tell you to scan it and pay for it.

Its awesome

ETA: in Alaska i had both Costco and Sams, until Sam's closed. Now in Biloxi the nearest Costco is New Orleans or Covington or Mobile. However heard there are plans in ocean springs to open one

I'm fortunate to have both nearby. Here, I prefer Sam's. Better meat and seafood selection, less entire Asian families clogging it up like at Costco.

My only Costco complaint is their seemingly nightly relocation of items.

I know why they do it. But I absolutely hate it.

The only reason we use Costco is because they have a liquor store on site. If Sam's ever gets their shite together, it's over for Costco.

Not a lot different than Costco. (We have both)

With the scan & go feature in your app on your phone, you don't even have to slow down at the door.

The same for the gas pumps. I drive up to the pump, scan the QR code, pull forward a bit and pump your gas. No fiddling with your wallet trying to find your loyalty card. It's sorta like that at Costco but the gas lines are shorter.

The cheaper the price of admission, the cheaper the crowd.

Pretty sure they have AI-enabled cameras at the checkouts that are making sure that people are scanning all of their items.

They do- I got stopped one day, even though I count my items every time before I leave. Turns out, the cameras knew I put some half & half in the cart and put back some yogurt bars and I didn’t take them out on the app. I was glad they caught it- the bars were $10 and the half and half was only $4, so it was a $6 price swing.

Costco hot dog is pretty dang good, as is their pizza.

How big are their 1.50 hot dogs? Are they foot longs? Asking for a friend.

Sam’s dogs are a meager standard bun size but are thicc. Sam’s did try dogs that had cheese bits in the meat. Not too much of a fan except when I want something cheap and easy. They taste like polish sausage.

The key is not roaming the store because you'll absolutely buy a bunch of unnecessary shite.

Sam's is best for delivery.

Costco has more "high end" stuff.

We replaced our home generator through Costco and not only got a great price but also like $3k in Costco cash back.

The other important thing is to wait for the sales. If you have memberships at both you can usually get most of your regular items on sale. Also, the gas alone pays for the membership.

Costco shipping charges more per item than you'd pay in tbe warehouse.
Sams is same price.

$60 per year? So $5 per month?

The OT has gotten real poor if this fee is even noticed.

I haven't been to a Sams in decades. Is it still aisles of items in bulk like six oil filters shrink wrapped where you might save $2 on buying six separately? What do you consider to be your best go-to deals and what is the difference in price vs say Walmart?

There is an Oklahoma-brewed beer that is my favorite - Coop F5 IPA.

I normally buy it in 12-pack form at Walmart for $22 each, which is $1.83 / can.

Last time I was at Sams I noticed they had cases for $28, which is $1.17 per can.

I don't get over there very often, so I loaded up 4 cases.

I live in a small town where Walmart is my closes grocery option by far. I don't think there is a huge discount between things that you can buy at Walmart and things you can buy at Sams, but that is not the case for other items.

For example, name-brand ibuprofen at Walgreens Pharmacy is almost 4 times the price of Sams generic ibuprofen.

We did too. Shopping through an online portal also gave me $8.50 back in points, so it ended up being even cheaper.
