I cannot understand the love for Donald Glover. Seriously what is his appeal?
Oh this will be good...

That's I ever get dude. It's annoying.

Everytime I see praise for this guy, I always ask why? What's so talented about him. And what should I go watch/listen to. What's his best work?

And the only responses I ever get are exactly that.
Oh boy.
Here we go.
You racist?
Dude, he's Donald Glover
LOL Childish Gambino, dude.

That's not an answer. Can you point me in the right direction, JBeam?

This program has nothing to do with talent. It's all about politics and what is socially popular at this time. There are some very talented performers but, the untalented socially relevant performers are held at the same level or higer and given more recognition. Chuck Berry and Fats Domino were basically a required afterthought. This should tell you all you need to know about the Grammys.

I answered you in a different post. I just don't get the "I don't see why he's so popular" mindset. Especially when you could easily google or look at his imdb for material.

Pretty similar humor to 30 Rock, which you admit to have watched multiple times.

30 Rock is one of my all time favorite shows.

I didn't deny it. I know he's popular. I said I don't understand why.

I didn’t realize both Lamar & Mars are midgets. 5’6” & 5’5” respectively

Kendrick was good
Rihanna was good
Kesha was ok

Everyone else sucked especially the country folks who did the Las Vegas tribute & Stapletons Petty tribute. Absolutely terrible

He also has a indie film on youtube (Clapping for the Wrong Reasons) that some folks on reddit believe is linked to some of his earlier music. I find that a bit debatable. But I did like the film.

d be curious to find another artist that has acted (Community,30 Rock & Atlanta), Had his own standup special (Weirdo), has multiple popular albums and created his own tv series (Atlanta. He will also be doing the writing for the FX Deadpool animated series).

To name a few talented musicians and actors off the top of head?

Jack Black.
Jamie Foxx.
Steve Martin
Kris Kristofferson
Mark Walberg

It's hardly groundbreaking to be a musician and an actor.

And I agree that he's a talented writer. But I've yet to see something that shows he he's a talented actor. Naming a movie that not released doesn't help this argument. And yall have yet to give me one song or album to go listen to.

Song lyrics to Kendrick Lamar DNA listed below (I know TLDR). I really want someone to read that and think to themselves if it really means anything. Does it make sense, is it coherent? Furthermore when he is rapping how can anyone tell what he is saying. Dumbing down of America, Idiocracy are all things I think about when people like JBeam claim this dude is talented.

Here come old flat-top, he come grooving slowly
He got ju-ju eyeballs, he's one holy roller
He got hair down to his knees
Got to be a joker, he just do what he please

He wear no shoeshine, he's got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger, he shoot Coca-Cola
He say, "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free

Come together, right now
Over me

He roller-coaster, he got early warning
He got muddy water, he one mojo filter
He say, "One and one and one is three"
Got to be good looking 'cause he's so hard to see

Come together, right now
Over me
Come together, right now
Come together, right now
Come together, right now
Over me

you make zero sense in this thread

you are basically saying you don't understand why a certain restaurant is popular, all the while admitting that you have never been to that restaurant

What does that have to do with it?

If you're saying that Kendrick is the Beatles of Rap, that he's the safe, easy, and generic distilling of an art form pandered to the masses but devoid of real meaning and talent then I agree wit you.

It's more like I'm saying I love BBQ restaurants. I frequent them. I've been to this one a couple times and it was never amazing to me, but people tout it as the best restaurant in the country. What am I missing?

He's saying that his lyrics represent the dumbing down of America. Which implies older music is smarter.
