The only posts that have been given the "old racist" treatments were the ones that were not legitimate critiques. They were the old man yelling at sky, get off my lawn type posts.
The current discussion is from someone saying they don't get the appeal and another person telling them the appeal. No one said they were the GOAT.

well most of the critiques garner those types of responses because most of the critiques boil down to "rap sucks" or "music was better back in my day"

Thank you very much for posting a few links. I appreciated that and listed to them.
This: LINK did not at all help me understand why he's so popular.
But I admittedly don't understand alot things these days. I love old soul and funk music, funk is one of my favorite genres of music, but the music I love is played by talented musicians and the whole band takes the stage and rocks it.
It seems newer music, and newer Fandom, is all about the front man with no mention or mind ever paid to the musicians or even the music. I just don't understand it. I'm not knocking it, people have different musical tastes, it's just not for me at all.

Indie/techno/pop crap just like all the other "alt" stuff on the radio these days. It's really frustrating how actual rock n roll with real guitars has basically been surgically removed from popular culture and terrestrial radio.

I also wouldn't consider War on Drugs apart of any of the sub genres you listed above.
