Grambling State football player Darrell Clark and his younger brother were shot late Wednesday night in New Orleans.
Clark’s younger brother was fatally wounded, while Clark, a rising senior wide receiver for the Tigers, was said to be in “stable” condition following surgery.
Grambling tight ends coach Darrell Kitchen confirmed the report early Thursday morning.
“From what I’m hearing, (Clark) will make it,” Kitchen said. “I am just distraught about the whole situation.”
Kitchen told the News-Star Clark and his younger brother, both New Orleans natives, had just finished playing basketball at a court and were in the car when the shooting took place.
Rusty Ponton, GSU's athletic director and vice president of student affairs and worked closely with student athletes at the school for nearly 30 years, described Clark as a "great kid with a great personality."

Senseless.
Prayers for that family. I can't imagine those parents hearing this news after simply thinking your kids were playing basketball

I thought midnight basketball was supposed to cut down on violence?

After watching shows about gangs in New Orleans and the lack of caring about life, what could make these senseless killings end?
