BRProud

Everyone is feeling this.

“The recent economic downturn. Cost of goods have just increased dramatically by over 50% on a lot of things. So, you know, our profitability was just down. Our sales, then, went down as well,” said Geiger.

Cypress brewing in the same building doesn't seem to be struggling.

Geiger says they’re not the only business in the area struggling to keep the lights on.

Small tacos and I'm sure raising the prices didn't help. I would also guess that Barracuda Taco opening put a dent in the business.

I'd say overpriced and overrated. It was never great. I hate to see local businesses close, though.

Place was overpriced and average at best, especially when you can go to authentic taco places and they are $2.00, maybe $2.50
The place behind Home Depot on Coursey off Cedarcrest is amazing. The barbacoa tacos with the consume, is maybe the best taco I ever had .

Two completely different places, Govt Taco swung and missed on pretty much all of their trendy taco ideas. I gave it a few tries before writing it off but it just wasn’t any good

Their service was atrocious the one time I went which is why it was just one time. The woman taking orders at the counter had a terrible attitude and was bad mouthing customers right to their faces. You really have to vet your employees, especially front line ones.

I agree. Went there twice. Second time to give them a second chance. Extremely rude from manager on down to order takers.

The Biden administration keeps tell us the economy has improved and inflation is down. They keep telling the American people that we just don’t realize how good we have it.

I've never understood the Jay D. hype. Nice enough dude, but more of a marketer than chef. Couldn't stand him on evening radio either.

Allegedly Jay D and cohorts are going to sue the broadcasting company they sold their NIL(persona) to.

Apparently over the lease contract with the broadcast company.

He thinks he has a case but I don’t think he realizes that he can get tied up in litigation until he’s drained.

Same reason I never went back. People working there thought they were too cool. Took forever to get someone at bar to make us drinks.

They had some good tacos, but in the early days, they had Mac and cheese on a taco and it was a texture nightmare

I haven't been to the taco place at the old BBQ place that was owned by the guy who also owned tiger donuts (rip maple bacon), but it seems busy. Those people sure as hell aren't going to that shitty barbershop that says walk-ins are welcome but then doesn't know the definition of a walk-in

Still I don't know Jay Ducote or even if he is still involved with gov taco, but seems like a good dude

Bingo. He’s a great guy for BR and I wish him the best. But as far as his food hype, he’s just a guy who started a blog and became popular before going on food network competition shows. He never had any restaurant experience. He became BR’s go-to authority in food because the city had nobody else.

Not surprised, this is what happens when the government becomes involved.

I mean I'd take the Carroll's over him and they had a show for a bit but they stick to the outskirts of BR and both are actual chefs. Had a place in Nola for a little while
