most of these kids grow out of this phase? At what age? Any of you have any experience with it personally?

I've never really understood why people take one genre and make it their entire personality

no different than people that view a sports team and center their entire being around it - it is just how that person chooses to live their life - and in fairness, it is a pretty benign choice when compared to other things.

Former "gutter punk" here and you generally grow out of dressing like that around the time you have to get a real job.

Reformed rivethead/goth here. Usually one of two things will pull you out:
- pussy
- job

Much life Keefe from Gemstones, I still see goth/industrial nights and almost backslide.

Add-On: I was in it before it had a pop of cool in the mid ots. Also the 2 above can go real sideways if you end up with another goth and have a job that embraces it. I had a real out of control run when I was dating a goth stripper and working in a recording studio. I think back to how I dressed going to some events during those days and want to curl up and die. Again, pretty much Keefe.

That's crazy bc she was the same. The stuff I did in one night takes months to do in a regular relationship.

Hell if it wasn't for her cutting, I would've been in a longer relationship with her.

I though of that episode when I saw this thread.

thanks for offering to let me in your clique, guys, but, to be honest, I'd rather be a crying little pu$$y than a f@ggy Goth kid - Butters.

Wrong. Most teen rebellion is a direct opposite of their parents. I bet those kids' parents are a lot like you.

not from what i have seen. all the goth kids i have seen have weird parents that were into that kind of shite when they were young or they have a mom who is "free spirited" and encourages the kids to "explore"

ends up with a bunch of douche bag kids that grow up to be poor when they get older, atleast the boys. sometimes the girls are hot and marry up.
