Got passed over for a job today...

Currently looking for an opportunity with a higher ceiling than where I currently am. Found a great opportunity with one of Texas' best companies. 30% more money, a 4 day work week and immeasurable growth opportunities.
I was legitimately qualified, made a great impression on Recruiter number one in the first interview. So much so, that she hinted the second interview was more of a formality and an opportunity for her supervisor just to check the boxes. Keep in mind I am currently employed with a very busy schedule and lots of responsibilities.
Second interview time comes and my meeting before the call runs long and I am rushed into the interview call, have to run outside of my current office and did the interview outside in the freezing rain so I could be discreet with my current employer. Next thing you know, the supervisor passed me over because my answers to her questions were not detailed enough.
Moral of the story, sometimes you have to be selfish and not let your current position or employer jeopardize a better opportunity for you. Also do not take any interviews for granted. The impression I got from the initial recruiter was I didnt have to make a great impression, but just had to not make a terrible impression. Apparently I made a terrible one.

Should have taken a half day or full day off for something like that. Hard lesson learned.

I interviewed for my current job over the phone (employer is based out of Massachusettes), and he was aware that I was still working my current job. He completely understood when I told him "hang on, I need to get to my car".

One more year at jack in the box won't kill you. Whataburger will still be there next year. Relax

Why would you not just try to impress the second time too? Why not just play it safe and go all out..you didn’t have the job yet.

Why take the recruiters word for it? How young are you?

I have a friend with Primerica and they're always looking for new members. I can put in a word for you if you'd like.
