There is no question but that insurance, both homeowners and auto, will be the death knell for this state. Last one out, please turn off the lights.
Completely agree. We moved away but kept our house in NO rented in case we wanted to move back. Every year the policy would not be renewed requiring a new no name company to write something to keep the bank happy. When it got to $18k with a $46k named storm deductible for raised house uptown in X flood zone, we sold the house.
If someone is able to afford a huge deductible, that’s great, but the future of the city is dependent on having everyone being able to afford that after the next big one. There will be massive amounts of defaults.

Landrys number one goal this session is to make Tim Temple look as weak and as feckless as possible and keep the plaintiff attorneys who have him in their pockets as fat and happy as possible. And so far he’s accomplishing both.

In light of the results of this legislative session, word is State Farm may be seriously considering pulling out of the state.

Yes talked to Farm Bureau agent recently and told him I've been with them since 1975. I don't think it'll be another year. If I see a 1 penny increase I'll leave even if it's more expensive. I'm tired of this nonsense.

Martini is seriously thinking about it as well.
For the first time in a long time.

No one cares about south LA and their insurance problems. Find something else to complain about or self insure. No one should subsidize your insurance because you live in a natural disaster prone area.

Highly doubtful, SF is making a big push to hire agents at least around BR.

It’s going to be ok. I just got a letter from Jeff Landry saying they are going to fix it.
Is he going to change the way math works? Because insurance is just math. Math that proves living in Louisiana is dumb.

Hope you’re right, cause that’s who we have coverage with. Fact remains though, there have been discussions.

I got my homeowners renewal yesterday. It was for 8,500 a year.
Sounds like SafeCo

It sounds like you had Louisiana Citizens. They are the insurer of last resort and statutorily required to have the highest rates. Why your agent steered you to Citizens is baffling.
Did not have citizens.

Always shop your homeowners insurance. I save $2800 switching LM to Allstate.

Yet somehow I think they’re gonna vote Republican till the cows come home
It’s not the Republicans that are the problem, it’s the democrats that claim to be Republican.
Aside from some dumb social shite Landry is as close to Republican as I’m close to Jeff Bezos level wealthy.

We’re on the verge of paying off the house and ready to drop wind and hail as well and self insure.
The next shoe to drop will be when there is a critical mass of low risk homes self insuring that will lower the risk pool and force prices higher.
