Hey! Want to share the agent name?
Only thing I don't have with him is my business insurance.

Can’t shop my insurance. No company will write policy. Citizens is only option.
Where are you located at man? Just curious
I know family in Metairie that are being destroyed by it right now. We got north of I-12 and insurance rates skyrocketed down

I have a nice house in uptown new orleans. I have a new roof and have Citizens at $14k instead of private at $20k

Try Safepoint/Cajun Underwriters

Why are you filing? Your neighbors insurance should be the one a claim is against. His tree
My understanding is that if a neighbor tree falls on your property during a storm, it's now your tree, your problem and your insurance claim. The only exception is that if you can demonstrate the neighbor was negligent in not maintaining the tree and that's a hard hill to climb. It typically requires you to get an Arborist report and send a certified letter to the neighbor putting them on notice before the tree falls. Or maybe if the tree is in such bad shape that it would be obvious to a reasonable person that it posed a hazard and even then you have the added problem of the storm (Act of God) contributing to the tree's fall.
Also there is a city easement between my neighbor's property and mine and I'm not sure if the tree was on his land or the city easement. It's close enough to probably require a survey and then you're fighting City Hall.
So right now my strategy is to work through my homeowners and if they want to subrogate a claim against someone else then they can. I'm also catching a break in that a different neighbor (also hit by the same tree) is claiming the cost to cut up and remove the tree and the repair of a common fence we share.

Just left USAA after 20 year... Shop it every year to 2 years. They all take advantage of you. Doesn't matter who. (They must have heard we all gett'n them VA disability payments)

Had a limb go through my roof recently. Made about a 6”X6” hole. Adjuster comes out, looks at it and tells me they can’t do anything because any roof repairs must come with an entirely new roof. And, of course I don’t need a new roof, not even close.
RIP OFF

Trust me it’s not that big.

Just cancelled with Progressive in favor of Allstate for this same reason. It's now tripled since 2022. Unacceptable. My new rate is the same as it was in 2023 just a hair under $2900/year

You ought to look at an EX-wind policy. Will be 20% of the cost. At least carry liability!

Then we sell and getting the frick out of loseiana.
No one will be able to afford to live here.

I will let you know how smoothly things go with USAA but they seem to have a good reputation. What happens to my rates going forward, we shall see.
USAA Claims usually go very smooth. In this case you may get the "run around" b/c it's your neighbor's tree and may not be covered under your policy.

It sounds like you had Louisiana Citizens. They are the insurer of last resort and statutorily required to have the highest rates. Why your agent steered you to Citizens is baffling.

I'm maybe 2 miles from you and ours is roughly $2500/yr
