My in laws have a lake house with no boat so when we go there it is pretty boring for me and my wife. We like to ski so I've been looking at used jet skis on Craigslist. Can a 110 hp jet ski pull a 200 lb skier with no problems?

Not trying to dog you but why would you get a jet ski to pull a skier. Any decent skier would pull that jet ski all around when cutting.

Jade Helm has confiscated all the jet skis.

If you want to have a serious accident, sure.

Ok, so that I understand, when you say "jet ski", do you mean a "sit down style" personal water craft? I think officially Jet Ski is a trademark of Kawaski .

If that is what you mean, then 110HP should be enough.

Because we would like to use the jet ski to ride around in foremost. We just would like the option to ski if we wanted

Yes but you would be better off buying a boat to do that you can even ski behind a pontoon boat.

Easily. Like has been said, expect the skier to pull the back end around if they cut out of the wake. nothing a slight correction of steering doesnt fix. Perfectly fine for rec skiing.

It is. Kawasaki is jet ski, Yamaha is wave runner, and Sea-doo is a Sea-doo.

I love my Kawasaki SXR. If I was going to get a Yamaha I'd go with the wave blaster

You should probably check the local laws on towing a skier or tube behind a PWC. Some states require a 3 passenger PWC for driver, spotter, and person being pulled. Some states just require rear view mirrors. I own a Sea Doo & Yamaha. The Yamaha has been bullet proof. The Sea Poo has given me many problems but hauls arse when it's running.

Yes, plenty of power. Remember that jet ski's take off faster than boats so go easy on the throttle at first.

I bet you are a real fun guy while drinking a coke around the xerox machine. Do you need a kleenex after getting pulled over and submitting to a breathalizer exam? Did you like Ping Pong and popsicles at summer camp? Do you need a band-aide after getting cut with an x-acto knife? Have you ever thrown styrofaom in a dumpster? Ever played frisbee in a windbreaker?

Lots a brand names are used generically, perhaps you should google it sometime.

Had a Honda F-12x (165hp) for 4 years at our camp. One of its best attributes was the ability to pull skiers.

We would mothership up with my boat and the ski, skiers would go around with the jetski- it made a for a great time.

You can get good ones second hand- mine had 72 hours when I sold it in fine shape and I was satisfied getting $3500 for it. I bought it used as well.
