quote:

"We build secure products to keep your information safe and we give law enforcement access to data based on valid legal orders," Pichai tweeted moments ago. "But that's wholly different than requiring companies to enable hacking of customer devices and data." Pichai seems to side squarely with Cook. "Forcing companies to enable hacking could compromise users’ privacy." Google's CEO said he's "looking forward to a thoughtful and open discussion on this important issue."

I never thought we would get to the point where big companies are the ones protecting our interest over the government

You can thank the media for half-assed attention grabbing headlines that are intentionally misleading for this whole mess.

It has nothing to do with the iPhone lock screen.and I agree with Apple and Google.

The only reason those assholes are "fighting" is so they can keep a high premium on your information to the highest bidder. You fricking sheep.

That doesn't make any sense, but it's incorrect to liken Google and Apple in this respect. Advertising companies like Google and Facebook do "sell your information," but Apple is different. As Tim Cook likes to say, "You are not Apple's product."

Tough to beat laughing emoticons with a "you sheep" reference.

It's the straight flush of Internet debate tactics.

That's what happens when someone like Snowden leaks what's really going on. These companies are now trying to save their look with the public.

It's all a PR ploy. They both already sell your information to ad companies. They just want to look like they are on your side with privacy concerns against the government. They are not.
