I just got some Steelseries Siberia 840's after a recommendation from a friend. They're very good as far as quality. The comfort is not as good as the Hyperion Cloud headset I had before, but I'm super picky about the fit and feel. I can't even wear a cap for long to give you an idea.

I'd like to go with the Artctis Pro Wireless from the same folks to see how they compare.

Can anyone tell me why these are absolutely useless outdoors?

I got these last week and they're outstanding in the gym working out or on the treadmill.

Step outside and they are useless. I've tested them on various devices and locations from BR to New Orleans. I've walked outside back in and repeated. 100% success in reproducing the problem seconds after walking outdoors.

I assume it's interference but it's happening on an iphone with no sim card and location/wifi/cellular data all turned turned off.

This is baffling and frustrating because they sound very good and I love them for $20. Do more expensive models not have this problem?
These are the Headphones.

ETA: I did some googlying. Most bluetooth headphones cutout while walking/running with them outdoors.
Not just cheap ones. OH well. These will be my goto's for Gym and treadmill. Regular ole Wired ones for outdoor jogs.

Taotronics on Amazon. Can't remember which model but the reviews make it clear. Lost the charger when I moved and will be buying another pair soon.

Are you saying that they don't work at all or that you have trouble hearing them with background noise? I use them for jogging and cycling without any issues but the wind noise while cycling does have an effect.

Nah It's 100% due to being outdoors. I tested it thoroughly. Put the device in my pocket and walked around building and cuts out. Walk into warehouse and it works perfectly. Tried on an Iphone 5s(my 'ipod') and Galaxy S7active(my phone). Same results.

It's tolerable if I do like this article says and wear an armband on right bicep. I ran with this setup last Saturday and cutting out was minimal.
I'm satisfied now.

I'm sure some expensive sets would do better but here's a blob from couple years ago.
Wireless headphones will never work for Running.

quote:

While the range of Bluetooth is 10 meters (33 feet), the optimal range FOR ANY BRAND OF BLUETOOTH STEREO DEVICE is 2 feet from the music device, especially outdoors when the connection cannot bounce off things. THIS RULE APPLIES TO ANY BRAND ACROSS THE BOARD. The ACTIVE X bluetooth antenna is located in the right side so make sure your device is above your elbow and on your right side for optimal connectivity to your headset while streaming music outdoors. This will help remedy any signal interruptions.

Anyone interested in using them for Running.

I've found that if I have my phone in my right pocket they work fine but it can cut out at times if it's in my left pocket.

Right. It's a simple as cross-body interference outdoors or anything more than 3 feet away.

Indoors, I can walk out my office to the water cooler 20 feet away around a corner and they work fine.

Ah well. I Love these MPOWS indoors for the price.

I use a pair of MPOW Bluetooth earbuds. Mine have lasted longer than a year, but if they break it's only $25 or so for another pair.

Apple pods fall out of your ear. I'm not a fan of anything wireless. Would rather deal with a cord than with interference.

I have $20 Sony ear buds and they work well but I've seriously considered over the ear stuff designed for exercising - have removable ear cups so you can dry them, clean them, etc. I think Soar makes some, not sure if that's the right name.
