I would have never survived Desert Storm without that!

Did you ever drink any of those old emergency waters in the can?

Have you seen that dude on YT that eats all kinds of rations? I don't know how that dude hasn't gotten botulism yet.

My Dad used to swear some of the cans they fed them in WWII were so bad they had to be left over from the Civil War.

During the Gulf War they were showing MREs on one of the news channels. He said, "those are gourmet meals compared to what we had to eat."

that reminds me of the shite Kroger sold back in the early 80's.

Was yellow can, Black lettering, and just said, "Beer". nothing more.

MRE Steve!

Love that channel. I watch it when I want to fall asleep. His voice is very calming but the old and modern rations are quite interesting

My go-to was Chicken Ala King with Tobasco and squeeze cheese on that giant cracker that came in all MREs. Every now and then you’d get lucky and get one with a pack of M&Ms. Most of the time though you had to settle for Ranger Pudding.

I've got a half dozen cases that expired in 2010. I've tried a few of them recently and they taste as bad as they did when they were new.

Cheese dried out and turned a weird color though.

After reading this thread, I'm comforted that I'm not the only weirdo that has watched another weirdo eat 50 year old canned food.

Nice!

It also reminds me that I need to start going through my MRE stash and choke those bad boys down to make room for a new case for hurricane season.

This is where my teenagers come in handy. I've just been leaving open cases around for them to ratfrick.

I mean, I could always just throw them away, but that seems awful wasteful.

When did they expire? Like I said, mine expired almost 10 years ago and the only things that seemed to suffer is the cheese and the tortillas. Also, some of the snacks, like the Combo's, are a little stale. The entrees still taste the same. I wouldn't toss them.
