They are the worst, I fly them pretty much every week and words can't describe how I feel about them.

I said this, and so I switched to American for a while. Switch to any American based airline with no status and tell me your opinion that any of them are much better or worse than the others is the same.

I believed they reduced the free checked bags from 2 to 1 and now you have to x amount of miles as well as spend x amount of money directly with United in order to achieve statuses.

Switching from a mileage based rewards program to a cost based one.
Higher redemption thresholds for award flights and upgrades.
It's regarded as the lesser of the rewards programs of the legacy carriers.

All the majors do now. And it's a pretty low number compared to the number of segments or miles for the same level.

What are they? Higher than what?

By whom? I bet I can find a source that has them higher than most, just as I can find one that has them lower. Who's the authority on this?

Not American (at least not yet). I'm going to qualify for gold again next year this Saturday based on hitting 30 segments. I think they're waiting out until the merger is complete to change the program or seeing if that many delta and united flyers are leaving because of FF changes

I don't get the hate for United although I have an irrational hatred of Southwest.
I have always found it is easier to upgrade to first on United. My favorite airline by far and I fly at least 1x per month

American required 10,000 points in 90 days for my status challenge. Only problem was I only got half the points for each mile flown because I got the discount airfare. I looked at that as requiring a certain amount of spend, even if indirectly.
If they don't require it now, I bet they will.

Do you work for United or something? You seem awfully defensive over an airline.

In 20 years of flying regularly, I have never flown a major carrier that fricks shite up like UA.

im taking a international flight with united in december, is united that bad?

How many people bitch in about united fly multiple times a month? I have horror stories with every single major airline they all suck. I don't understand the hate for united over the rest. American Is by far the worst in my exprience.

I'm not defensive. I think it's funny that the second I challenge the assumption that any airline is that much worse than the others, people go quiet, or in your case, accuse me of working for them.
I literally asked questions, and you came back with that. That makes you the defensive one, right?

I usually fly United but my past four flights have been with American. Out of the 8 segments for the 4 flights 6 of them were delayed 15 minutes or longer. I am losing faith in American

No, you were actually wrong about the baggage. It was reduced from 2 free bags to one.
I also never compared airline programs. I simply said United's has gotten worse.

They all have issues and at certain points any airline can make you think they are the worst. I don't get the hate for southwest. I love southwest. Just this year alone, I have booked 16 round trip flights using points and a companion pass. It didn't take me much at all to accumulate those points (about 1 year)
Posted on 9/8/15 at 10:30 pm to upgrayedd
I still get two bags free for me and my companion on United. And both can be up to 70 lbs.
I never once said they were better. I think they are all pretty bad until you get status. I have over 40k lifetime miles on delta, and I guarantee I've been delayed more than not. I have over 60k on American, and after having status with United for so long, it was like becoming a second class citizen when I tried to switch.
And they all have the claim of being voted best FF program in the country for x years in a row. Meaning you can find a publication to fit the narrative of which is best and which is worst. It's a pointless argument. That's all I'm saying.
