Do us a favor and watch whatever seasons you can, the first few are TV gold. Incompetence in action. I was waiting for one of their boats to sink without any interference from the Japanese. Or for their members to get actually shot trying to get aboard and sabotage the whalers ships. Literal piracy.

They let people go out miles away from the main ship in a little boat, and the driver had no idea how to drive the thing or get back

Pissing people off doesn't really change their minds.

Admittedly I've never seen the TV show, and I would imagine that the crew acts like a bunch of hippies, but at the same time I think it is fairly admirable to go out and take action on the things you believe in.
Do you realize that the Japs are following international whaling laws? Laws that were agreed to and are recognized by the US in order to limit the number of whales harvested.
The Sea Hippies are basically claiming some random Danish whaling law written by a bunch of socialists. It would be the equivalent of some stoners claiming Luxembourg fishing laws and then throwing piss balloons at you and your family for bass fishing.

Thats cause its fake, like most tv shows.

The Southpark episode was actually pretty spot on

Why does that boat have like 90 people on it when it probably only needs like 15 to actually operate? And how come none of them are qualified sailors?
I'll tell you why, because they're losers with no job and want to be on TV and post on Facebook about how much they love whales

I don't think I'm ever going to get tired of this picture of the Ady Gil I took in 2009 a few months before she was crushed by that Japanese security vessel.
Here she is in Auckland. At the time I thought she was some kind of fancy party boat.

it's not like they are going after the big, rare whales we all think about.
Not completely true.
I agree that they are a bunch of douches, but if you think the Japs are operating within the lines of the law, you are as deluded as they are.
I don't get how people get freaked because someone kills a snake (ok, so maybe that's mostly the Outdoor Board) or freak out about dog fighting and yet condone whale hunting.

That was a great read
Thanks

The SS do some highly suspect and illegal stuff on top of being inept tards.
Yeah, I remember when they had someone actually board one of the Jap boats waving around some piece of paper about international law. Naturally, the Japs detained him and the SS people immediately started calling to the media that one of their guys had been "captured" or some crap.
That's when I really turned on the SS people.
I'm not expert in international / sea laws... but I'm pretty sure jumping on someone else's boat like that is illegal.

Exactly! 50% of what those douches say is lies. I watched the gray haired guy in a news interview get pissed off when the host said that Minke whales are not endangered and proceed to scream "ALL WHALES ARE ENDANGERED". If you have to lie to support your cause then your cause is shite.

No one even reported the incident — there is no requirement to do so under maritime law nor any clear method for mariners, who move from port to port, to volunteer what they know.
Just because you're not required to report it doesn't make it legal.

I guess not but I hazard to guess the law on the open sea isn't quite the same in a number of ways as the law here on dry land (or even within our maritime borders).
