Additional relevant details:
He was 44 and lived with his parents
Was last seen Thursday evening
Probably should drop a pic of him in op
It’s not exactly a case of surburban dad randomly gets beaten to death in middle class neighborhood.

Probably drug deal gone bad or maybe he owed someone money and never paid.

Did he live with parents because he’s going through a divorce, or has he never left the nest?
If the former, ex-wife’s new boyfriend is the prime suspect.

This was what I was thinking. Wife was reading me the Advocates article last night and I was thinking holy shite, then I read the wafb article and it wasn’t quite as shocking.

Still seems pretty weird based on the “ no drugs” claim, the fact that he looks pretty normal and the fact that he had a job .
I’m guessing he either actually was doing a drug deal, surprised some robbers or somebody who was familiar with his schedule was lying in wait . But who beats a guy to death other than something random ? Strange all the way around and not a crime area although all those neighborhoods around there closer to the river are full of Laplace/ New Orleans transplants.

Not saying it wasn't drugs but he worked at dotd as an inspector so he was subject to random drug tests and would have been fired for failing or if he wasn't punctual for work on a regular basis. Also he wasn't robbed.
I'm thinking he screwed the wrong dude over or the dudes girl.

But no Baton Rouge transplants?
Seriously though, the thought of calling Pelican Point an "affluent" neighborhood is a little stretch by that reporter.

Nah, this sounded real personal.

Did you read the article? It says he's never been married

Those two neighborhoods west of Pelican Point are probably 70% Laplace and Nola and River Parishes transplants. I say that because my job allows me to know that and these are my clients , not to throw shade on either because obviously Baton Rudge is a crime infested shithole too.

I would call if affluent. They have some nice houses back there and some pretty influential residents. Some of them include a former governor, current and former state reps and senators, former mayors and the current sheriff.

Sounds like you need to check your privilege.

This doesn't really sound like a drug deal gone bad. Most dealers or someone hired by them would use a gun, not beat someone to death. Unless they just wanted to beat him up and went too far or didn't think they beat him up as bad as they did.
This just seems a little more personal to me. Drug dealers probably wouldn't risk the chance of the DNA being left behind that happens when you beat someone to death. They'd have clean bullets and try to leave as little evidence as possible.
However, if it's something more personal, the party responsible wouldn't think as clearly and would leave more evidence behind in the heat of the moment.
I'm not saying it's not a drug related beating, but I just feel it's more personal and too sloppy for a drug dealer.

Seems odd the family is moving out of state ASAP.

I live in pelican point, I wouldn't call it affluent.

There’s obviously more to this story. The only think I could think is that he might have been a guy that was involved in an affair. Husband finds out and stalked him down.
