If you've been watching and paying attention to the NASA "narrator" all day you can pick up some of these terms/places. It's fascinating with just that bit of knowledge. Imagine being one of the hundreds of scientists who are listening to this knowing every word and implication.
This is one hell of mission that is justifying the NEED to go back into the surface. Just about every observation that was made by Victor brings up multiple questions. Let your imagination go wild while thinking about the "snow" and geographic shapes they're reporting.

Of course in the middle of all of these great observations they have to talk about the freaking toilet. Hopefully that's the worst thing remembered about this mission.

I'm sure I am not understanding fully, but this discussion they're having about what they see seems like it's performative for the broadcast. I'm pretty sure we've had satellites orbit the moon before and have gotten incredibly detailed data about it, so I fail to see the value of their subjective observations and determinations of the characteristics of the surface (light/dark, high/low, etc).
She's answering my question here in great detail right now

The four of them are really earning tomorrow's "off duty" day. The science department (right side of the current screen) sure seems happy.

In honor of these folks getting to the moon this afternoon, I'm posting my favorite Bob and David skit.

Interesting to hear him say that going away from then coming back to the moon and the brightness being overwhelming, whereas the video from the Lem makes it look very very dark.

I'm sure they have to use dark filters or the pics and video would just be washed out.

Maybe, but the white on the craft is bright, so dunno.
Guess we will have to wait and see the photos and video they are taking from inside the craft.

do you really believe this?

The inside of the capsule is in absolute darkness to avoid any glare in the windows. This shot right here... 50/50 near/far side of the moon ... I can't wait to see the 4K photos. Speaking of the far side...

It's more NASA BS. How convenient they left on April Fools.

Did Michael Collins cry this much about how bright it was outside his window?
Get that man some tinted windows for goodness sake.

The outside camera is shite quality

Rewinding and fast-forwarding the Orion stream to watch the moon change in size/clarity is really cool.

I appreciate the job these folks have. They are having to take their time and speak very carefully right now so that they don't let slip all the alien shenanigans they are seeing going on on the surface. Dude almost slipped a minute ago.

It’s unfortunate that they’re going to lose signal when they go behind the moon. You’d think by now NASA would have a “Starlink” type array up there to keep the signal up.

My ears keep trying to hear a little friction between those two women talking.

Wonder if it's a radiation thing and limits camera options

It’s a bandwidth thing. They can only live downlink so much data. It’s why early on we would get a low resolution photo at first but a high resolution would come out the next day or so.
So the cameras are filming and recording at high resolution but NASA has to pick and choose how they allocate bandwidth. Video is already on the low end of priority list, and they elected to give the inside feeds more priority than outside right now.

What if when they're passing the dark side of the Moon a spaceship from the alien base there takes off and meets them in space and then escorts them back to Earth and then the aliens land on Earth and that's the first time we get confirmation of extraterrestrial life.
That would be cool...
That would be cool...
