The "you don't have kids so you could never possibly know what it's like to truly care for another person or have a valid opinion on the matter" position is a cop out. It assumes that there are no different perspectives or valid ways to view a situation, even if the other person does have kids. It's the I'm inherently right, and you are wrong. I don't have to support my point or use reasoning argument.
Sorry, that position just annoys me, and it is someting of a pet peeve.
Guess we'll just have to disagree. It's not a cop out. In fact I find your argument a cop out. For someone to claim to be able to comprehend the feelings of a parent when they have never been a parent themselves takes a huge assumption on their part that they know about something they've never experienced. So if we're talking about making assumptions, I'd say the person assuming to know what a parent feels for a child when they have no kids of their own is the bigger of the two.

Don't you have 2 kids? way to be there for the other one who now lost a sibling and a father.

Not sure of your point. The victims last name was Diaz. No middle eastern connection.

bullshite.
We, as in everybody, get some sort of deterrent from this redneck gun happy shite happening again.

...you are missing something for sure... did you even attempt to follow the string of comments? Just reread the comment to which I responded.

Your position of it's a parent thing rests on the idea that all other parents must feel the same reaction as you is appropriate. All you have to do is find a reasonable portion of parents who disagree with your preferred course of action to disprove your generalizing ration. Really I'm just commenting on your chosen argument and not your conclusion.

Kudos to the victim's family, although this old man needs to be institutionalized.

He sees black and white. Nothing in between. It's almost impressive.

Imagine how non-lenient the court would have been had the shooter been black.

Can't do this. At least not in Minnesota.

Gwinnett County, Ga. must be a terrible place. This is the same place where they arrested the man for starving a baby to death:
Member of the Nuwaubian Nation of Moors, an Islam-based cult, starves four young children, one of whom dies. He apparently believed in withholding food for punishment. A 21 year girl in the group weighed 59 pounds.
The man also had sex with his daughter.

Once there, officers found three other children, ages 5, 3 and 3. They were severely malnourished and were in need of medical attention. Also in the room was a woman identified as Iasia Sweeting, 21. Sweeting was lying on the floor wrapped in blankets and was in desperate need of medical attention. She weighed only 59 pounds.

This is why we need another Obama in office. White people need to be held accountable for the they have acted over past hundred years. Whitey being whitey will just not do anymore.
