I remember when this happened. Bayou Corne is having similar traits, just not as fast.

(German, I think I started this exact thread a couple years ago)

That ole man Viator, at like 5:16 in that video, aka the fricking star of the show, is the uncle of my first boss out of college. CSB.

That was a pretty cool video. Would be scary to have been there when that happened.

One of the guys at work was a deputy for the Iberia Sherrif's office when that happened.

He lived on Jefferson Island Rd and was one of the first responders to arrive. About 20 minutes later, another officer and good friend of his rolled up looking like he had went mud wrestling in full uniform.

He asked him "what the hell happened to you?"

He was on the way there and happened to glance out as he was crossing the Petit Anse. He stopped and got out to look because all the water was gone.

He turned around when he heard an old man hollering for help and saw him stuck in the bottom up past his waist in mud. He helped the old guy out and got pretty dirty doing so.

The guy was in a little bateau going out to set jug lines when the water started falling. Next thing he knew, he was sitting on the bottom. The only explanation he could come up with was that the world was ending so he got out of his boat and was going to run home and tell his wife.

My grandfather was in the mine when it happened. He was a heavy equipment mechanic that was servicing some of their equipment at the time. It was just really bad timing with him being there.

He said it was scary.
