I think he blindly ignored the situation and hoped it would go away.
There are systems readily available to check the validity of Social Security numbers and surely there were others in the company that should have exercised oversight.

up.....I'm not against getting rid of the illegal criminals, but leave the hard working men women alone...
The problem with this mentality is that using illegal labor is exploitive and has far reaching effects on the labor market by suppressing wages.
People complain about minimum wage and a "living" wage and "lazy white people" living off the government because "they won't do the jobs that these illegals will" so we "need" them. They rarely finish the sentence, "white people won't do these jobs... at those low wages". Pay enough money and you'll find people willing to do the job... legally.

50% of illegals have criminal records, not counting the fact that they are here illegally. That fact is per CBS News.
I don't understand why thst isnt part of the equation.
I'll pay more for my bacon and drywall. I dont GAF.

These kind of processing plants are a big part of the machine for importing undocumented migrant labor. Targeting this industry can actually reduce the flow.

The problem with them having fake papers is the second you question someone who isn’t using fake papers, you will get sued.

You don’t get sued for verifying documents

Immigration and labor law are inextricably linked and should be treated as such. And BTW, labor unions used to block out undocumented migrant workers. Destroying the unions put this issue in the hands of the employer/owners who put more money in their pocket by importing or attracting undocumented migrant labor.
Maybe we should empower domestic unions again.

You can’t target companies for hiring foreigners while simultaneously targeting them for discrimination in hiring practices.

Just about every meat plant out here they pays shite wages has a ton of illegals.
That was going to be my question...let's pretend he really didn't know they were illegal. What hourly rate was he paying them? Because if it was less than the federal minimum wage I would think that presents a different issue.

That makes no sense. You absolutely can target companies for hiring undocumented foreign workers.

This guy is claiming they had documents.
They use stolen identities.
So yes, the second you start questioning people’s documents that don’t turn out to be fake. You just discriminated against them.

Lots of posters are just full of shite, which is the root of their stupidity. You are probably generally the dumbest poster on this site though. It’s not rooted in some fantasy, it’s just plain retardation. Congratulations

You can’t discriminate in hiring practices.
Sorry your mom dropped you on your head too many times.

refusing to hire someone because you assume they are “illegal” (undocumented) and they are actually legally authorized to work can constitute discrimination, particularly under U.S. law.
