Glad to see the nationwide chlorine shortage finally getting some media coverage.

Shortages and price increases been going on for 8 months now and it’s going to get much worse. Going to be much more expensive to own a pool post 2020.

Hurricane that hit LC destroyed a big chlorine tab plant.

I picked up two 40lb buckets of 3" chlorine tabs from Sam's Club today. They were $99 each, so I didn't think it was that bad compared to prices I saw at Walmart

In before salt water filter brags

Salt water pools will get more expensive too. Demand for salt generators is already up which will raise prices on everything salt pools need. Equipment and parts are in short supply as well. Not to mention when your maintenance guy has to spend more on parts and chemicals, he’s going to raise his prices and that includes salt pools.

Got a quote today for $175 a week for pool maintenance.

That’s expensive. That’s average rate for monthly service in the Houston burbs.

Pool people told me today tabs may be hard to get
Granular shouldn’t be problem

Women and POC will somehow be the hardest hit by this.

Your husband can’t take care of the pool?

Tabs are hard to find but liquid bleach seems to be plentiful.

Plenty of liquid chlorine to be found. You can't just run tabs all summer anyway as they are stabilized.

I marvel at people who have a pool and cant take care of it. Basically all you need to put in it is bleach and baking soda to keep algae out.

There is no chlorine shortage. If there were, your every day life would break down. There are no fewer than 5 plants pumping out chlorine within 20 miles of Baton Rouge alone. The shortage is in "chlorine" pool tablets or granules because one of the few plants that makes them got whacked in a hurricane.
Stupid people will not be able to maintain their pools. People who have seen bleach and can do simple math will be able to maintain their pools in the absence of said tablets.
Most of you dummies will have green water.

I can cut my own grass and clean my house but I don’t. I will be adding a pool guy and if I can get it all done for $1000 a month it’s well worth it.

Steel, as well. We just sold a $7700 bucket for an excavator with a 24% steel surcharge on top of that.
