Which base is which
Positions on the field
Not chasing balls hit to other positions
Not fighting over the ball
Getting an out at first
Proper way to field a ground ball
Proper throwing technique
Getting a glove on a thrown ball with fingers up (not basket catching/only advance players will be catching the ball)
Proper grip on the bat
Somewhat decent batting stance
Somewhat decent swing
Running through first base (only a few kids will get it)

They won’t be asking once the kid is 9. They’ll get the real coaches who won’t bother with hme e younger ages.

Don't bother with the kids that don't have at least a $150 tball bat.
Need full family commitment here.

Teach them to step into their throw with the proper foot.

Teach them which base they run to next.

Teach them which hand goes above the other on the bat.

Teach them how to “alligator chomp” the ball in their glove with their other hand to stop the ball from falling out.

That’s four basic things they can learn in year one. If you get them to learn these by seasons end, you’ve accomplished something.

Also, work on making an endless stream of completely ridiculous things that sound kind of like you know something.

Like says a kid gets hit on the arm by a ball and starts crying. You run up and say something like,

“You know who else got hit like that? Bake McBride of the Chicago Blackhawks got hit like that in the 82 World Series and his arm swelled up like a grapefruit. He just had to rub it off because back then he also had to fly the team plane.”

WRITE DOWN YOUR PLAN FOR PRACTICE.

Try to repeat as much as you can with every practice( Develop routine in drills so players know what is next)

Work in groups of 3 or 4 to help keep their attention. Spend last 20 minutes of practice in competition drills.

1st thing have a neeting with parents. Tell them to keave you the hell alone. Get hottest mom to be team mom. Next get 2 guys to help. You will need them. Fastest kid that can run and throw at pitcher position. Kid that can maybe catch at 1st.

Get at least one or two more people as assistants.

Teach them to throw and catch with a tennis ball first.

During the games, change their fielding positions every inning. It keeps the ones in the outfield, second, shortstop and third base from getting bored. They all want to play pitcher, catcher and first.

- Half the kids playing will not play ball past t-ball so don't take it too serious.

- Have one practice the week before their first game. Teach the kids who have no clue whatsoever how to get in position to hit the ball and where to run once they hit the ball.

- Put them in a line in the in field so that each kid can take a turn fielding the ball.

- The kids who will go on to play coaches pitch and beyond will learn the basics elsewhere.

This is something that goes under the radar. Tball games are filled with single MILFS.

Up to age 9-10, always try to get as many girls as you can on your team.

Better attention span, better coordination, and generally more coachable. The separation in physical strength comes later, and really, paying attention is more than half the game before that age.

Never call a kid by his name. Hot rod, big guy super star, etc

Keep a pocketful of gum. Blow huge bubbles. Don’t share with the kids

Put flat Mountain Dew in the water jug and call it Gatoraid

Go ahead and shave your head bald now, because by the end of the season you will have pulled it all out anyway.

Try to teach them some baseball Outs at first and throws from first to third. Most important position is first base, third, and pitcher. Pitcher early on third base later for best players Middle of year teach forces at second. Try to have them hit by doing it correctly. Do not have them open up and point to where they want it. Set them up back in box and toes in the line to create real hits down third base.

This fricking guy.. They're goddamn 3 to 5 year old. Idiot.
