Dumb list if no Lincoln Parish! It’s one of the best mountain bike trails in the South.

if your not to far away from it, Bogue Chitta State park has a nice 5 mile loop trail. Had that same idea that I should do some hiking and did that one last Sunday. Plan on heading out and hiking Tunica/Clark soon.

I ran 20 out on those trails on Saturday...they're in pretty good shape right now. The sandy portions aren't too bad at all

To train for hills, without actual hills in your trails you should add in stair climbing. Find a tall building and climb alot of stairs.
I bought a 40 lb weighted vest and started doing the stair climber at the gym with it on, and was getting in great shape for hiking, (want to do some overnights in the smokies in the future, maybe even the Appalachian trail one day). The gym stopped me though, said no outside equipment allowed.

wish it had a little more elevation changes, but I plan on going back often. Maybe go around the 5 mile loop as fast as I can, then break out the weight vest and do those stairs and little bit of slope on the lower gorge trail part.
Been going to the smokies the last few summers and am gradually getting bit by the hiking bug. Tried to make it to the top of mount Le Conte on the alum cave trail and came up a little short last summer. Almost made it to the top but came up a little short, its 5.5 miles (or 11 miles overall) all up hill, but I got to get in good enough shape to at least do that and then start doing some over nights and gradually getting into it.

I’ve been all over the state hiking and my favorite is Kisatchie National Forest near Fort Polk.

Gotta leave LA for good hiking let’s be honest.

Not really. You won’t find the best hiking spots in Louisiana but you can find good ones in any state.
To me, any hiking trail can be good as long as it is not close to civilization. It’s all about enjoying the outdoors and Mother Nature. I’d prefer something mountainy but that’s not always readily available.

I can get about 9 miles in one loop by adding in a few out & backs, looping the group camps, etc and of course if you add in some of the horse trails or disc golf course you can add even more

The Chicot State Park lake loops are excellent and I say this having the GSMNP and Blue Ridge Parkway in my backyard.

Chicot state park and Louisiana arboretum which is affiliated with chicot state park. It is really nice and there is a trail run in December which is popular with the trail running crowd. Several people I know stay at Knobbhill Hunting Lodge and go on trail runs. The Louisiana Arboretum is across the street from Knobbhill Hunting Lodge.

I'm pretty sure Clarke Creek is in Mississippi.
