They don't have magical properties, it's just an easy way to communicate.

My older sister brought one home when I was 17. A couple of my friends and I pulled it out one afternoon to give it a whirl. It freaked all of us out. Never again will I take part and I have told my children as they became teens to just avoid it if ever offered to participate.
I believe that anytime a group of people come together and have the intent to summon evil spirit(s), evil will oblige. The board itself is just a formal invitation card and focuses intent from the participants.

It's not the Object (WB in this case), it's the Belief. Like in Voodoo, that stuff wreaks havoc on them who believe it.
We are the ultimate masters of our (Subjective) Reality. That is God's gift of Life, and Self. "In my house there are many mansions...". To explore the versions of Self and Reality, and choose. Different strokes for different (pre-disposed/pre-destined/Karma) folks.
The sentiments and instincts of most of the Posters in this thread are spot on. Be damn cautious in swimming out into deep water, to see what's there. Human frailty and the 'undertow' can be problematic.
Albeit, "to the pure all things are pure". We may well be able to communicate with the Spirts of 'deceased' loved ones some day, if that would matter. Once we get to that point, I'm not sure it would.
Fascinating and challenging life. Thank you, Jesus, and The Father of course. The arse kicking is worth it.
