Scratch offs have been a staple of our Christmas gifts for years too.

Scratch offs make excellent white elephant/dirty santa gifts.
They make extremely trashy Christmas bonuses.
Well, except for this one girl, apparently.

with 300k you can run... but you can't hide forever
You can hire a lot better lawyer than a gal without $300k, though.
Let's say it comes out to $200k after taxes... that's like 10 years in wages for this chick. I've had coworkers who I am friends with, but not sure if I'd give up 5 years' income for them.
ETA: after subsequent reading, the real winners will be the bumpkin lawyers who represent these dumb-arse girls.

They clearly had a verbal agreement to split any winnings. After attorney's fees and taxes they will each get about $6ok.
Old Fivehead thinks she is smart by stealing it all but is only going to cost them both a shitload of cash.
Once it all settles out I hope she gets an old fashioned country arse-whipping at the closest Sonic.

Lottery doesn't take taxes out up front on big prizes like that?

Who does this? What a cheapskate manager. Just asking for stupidity like this news article to happen.
That's not what happened.

Lucky lives up to his name when it comes to the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. To spread some holiday cheer, he bought a roll of scratch offs from G&B Liquor Store for his waitresses.
"He told us whatever we won, it would be split between us for our Christmas bonus," Underwood said.
She and fellow waitress, Mandy Vanhouten, scratched off their pile together at the bar.
"She handed me five and she had five," Underwood said.
Vanhouten scratched off a $300,000 Fortune instant ticket, worth $10, and won the top prize. Since they work the same shift, she and Underwood would each get $150,000.
Bonus points - the woman who was left high and dry has 5 kids, and the restaurant has been awarded both "Best Burger in Town" and "Best Place to Work"

And sure, I would hit it.
Not sure all contracts have to be written to be enforceable. I recall sharing lot-tree tickets and grass-cuttin businesses as two prime examples in Simon/Breaux B-Law classes
From a quick googley.
I. Elements of a Contract:
Offer
A proposal made by one party (the offeror) to another party (the offeree) indicating a willingness to enter a contract.
Acceptance
The agreement of the offeree to be bound by the terms of the offer.
Genuine Agreement
Offer and acceptance go together to create genuine agreement, or a meeting of the minds. Agreement can be destroyed by fraud, misrepresentation, mistake, duress, or undue influence.
Consideration
The thing of value promised to the other party in a contract in exchange for something else of value promised by the other party. This mutual exchange binds the parties together.
Capacity
The law presumes that anyone entering a contract has the legal capacity to do so. Minors are generally excused from contractual responsibility, as are mentally incompetent and drugged or drunk individuals
Legality
Parties are not allowed to enforce contracts that involve doing something that is illegal. Some illegal contracts involve agreements to co

25% of it. there's another 14% or so that has to be paid during tax season.

People fricking suck.
she is going to use it to "make her life easier."
I almost guarantee you that she will ultimately have more hardships than she had before.

Hey man, if you like greasy stakes and $8 cheese fries and waitresses that have marathon mileage on them, Sportsman is your place
Honestly, I don't go there because I had a thing with Luckadoos cousin and she goes there a bit. Avoiding the drama

I love the old school Schlitz sign in front of the bar. How many decades has it been since they served Schlitz???

There is a ton of good stuff on the inside; it's all run down, but a lot of antiques.. it's usually dead during the year, but they make a killing when Suttgart does the duck calling championships and Macks does their sales.
I don't recommend it to anyone - but it's not a bad place to eat, just greasy and expensive
