Gift-giving etiquette poll

OK, Here's the scenario: let's say you have a younger sibling that you traditionally always get gifts for, whether it's their birthday, Christmas, whatever. Early on, they didn't get you anything in return, but that's because they were still in school, broke, no job, whatever. No biggie. Now fast forward to when they are in their twenties, already graduated and has had a job for a few years, and they still don't get you any presents in return. (And let's presume they are blowing off getting anybody presents, it's not a personal issue). How do you proceed?
A. Change nothing, keep buying them shite with nothing in return.
B. Just stop buying until they reciprocate.
C. Call them out on it.
And it's not about being petty and demanding a gift. I can do without the one extra mediocre present. It's just the principle of the matter. Not everyone can afford lavish gift-giving obviously, but putting no effort into it at all is kinda BS.
As a spin-off, what age do you think is too old to still be riding the "I'm just a kid" excuse?" After they graduate high school? When they get their 1st job? I'm talking just immediate family.

If you are giving with the intent to receive... then stop

Definitely C. Do it publically at a family event after you've had a few cocktails.

frick that, be petty and don't get them shite. Unless you have all the money. Then buy yourself a gift.

I'd even threaten to kill them.

I'd buy one and keep it if they didn't get you one in return. Depending on their financial situation.

Anyone over 18 should have at least a few dollars to spend on a mom/dad/brother. Even if it's a $10 POS gift.

I'm mean, technically, it sounds like they are giving you the finger.
Eta: So that's something...

The actual principle of gift giving shouldn't even consider whether you get something in return or not.

Not if you put a note saying "I'm going to kill your cheap, no present-giving arse tonight" in a box and wrap it up.
Big surprise

My guess is that the younger sibling isn't expecting you to give them gifts. Putting a stop to that might be a relief on their part.

I would buy them shite expecting nothing in return. I assume this person is not shitty and you have a good relationship with them.
Maybe ramp down the quality of gifts?

A. Change nothing, keep buying them shite with nothing in return.
But if you are gift giving for any other reason but to be generous, then the answer changes.

Buy yourself a gift and put their name on it.
Then go on and on about how much you love the gift and thank them over and over.

stop buying presents. PERIOD.
i don't want presents, or cards. especially cards. the most wasteful money ever spent are on cards of every kind. i don't want gifts from siblings.

I was giving gifts at a pretty early age. Mostly terrible pieces of shite from dollar store, but I was trying at least.

i don't want presents
Y'all get together and spend some money on some shots at a titty bar or something, not on some toonce tee shirts and yeti ramblers that will never be used

Touche. But to me that applies more with charity cases. I give the homeless guy some change, I don't expect him to return the favor. But someone who can (and arguably SHOULD) reciprocate and they blow it off is a different story.
