If it's North Koreans trying to escape, it's really sad.
Imagine how bad it must be to set adrift knowing full well you may bear your fate at sea.
I don't think maritime disasters get as much thought as they should. It's one thing to be lost or stuck on land. Bearing that fate on open water is so much more hopeless.
It may have been in another life, but somewhere in the pit of my stomach, I have a bad feeling that's the way I'm going to go. I don't know where it comes from, but I think about it much more than I should.

About what about the other 20,000+ that have died trying to cross since 2000? Including God knows how many children. Do they not deserve your sympathy because of the one case you cited?
