How much will this suck? Dentist says it’ll just be local anaesthesia and I can go back to work the next day. Just ibuprofen for pain. He says lower extraction is much worse, and that’s what requires being put under, pain meds, extensive soreness, etc.

Anyone had this done recently (in the last decade or so). What’s the recovery look like?

ETA: both teeth are already well out of the gum and have been for years.

You should get a gold grill while you’re at it

If you're going to a dentist for wisdom teeth extraction then you're going to die

I got my upper done and my lower done 4 years apart. They sucked equally. Tell the doctor to not hold back on anesthesia and pain meds. You don't want any part of that pain.

The constant drooling and spitting up blood also sucks. It's a great diet plan, because you'll definitely lose weight.

First few days was really swollen after getting mine removed (top and bottom) then I got an infection with throbbing pain, would not suggest going to work the next day as a precautionary measure...

I had mine removed a few months ago. I just did local anesthesia too.

The lowers were definitely more difficult.

I did it on a friday and was fine by sunday.

Just had mine cut out in Nov and Dec. Mine were impacted and bottoms were sideways.

I was full sedation.

First surgery (left 2) didn't seem bad.

Second surgery (right 2) sucked.

Still was sedated, but had issues with my nasal cavity.

The surgery isn't bad, it's after the presnidone runs out that you really start to notice it.

That's about a week later.

Other than that, the most painful thing is when you drink something cold and you still have a small opening that liquid hits the nerve.

Eat mash potatoes and soup. Lots of water and keep ice packs on your face.

I wouldn't let those frickers touch me until they put me under. I don't want to feel or even hear them working on me.

Yep I lost 25 lbs from 22 Nov to Jan 1st.

I did mention my nasal cavity issues with my second surgery.

That infection sucked and I wanted to die while laying in bed for a few days.

Had all of mine done with local. Feels fine, which is great because the surgeon basically wrenches the teeth out with fancy dental pliers. You get to hear all the bone cracking detail too. This will freak out some people. That said, I didn't feel a thing until it wore off. I actually went back to the office for an hour or two.

When it did wear off, ibuprofen was enough for a few days although my extraction was pretty straightforward. Ate mostly soup for a week. Others with more trouble might want to kill themselves.

A lot of the recovery, etc. depends on your age. If you're well past your twenties, it'll be rougher going post-procedure.

I had all four done at the same time, and I wisely chose to not be around for that party, especially since one was "very difficult to remove", according to the oral surgeon.

If you have the option to not remember it, definitely give it some though.

Took me a solid week to recover.

Won't be bad at all. I had all 4 extracted at once. The worst part will be the dry socketing but it's nothing stress about.

My lowers were a piece of cake... if you can handle the wrenching and grinding and crushing noises. I was so smashed on nitrous oxide I didn't care what they did.

If this describes the OP, he'd better get put under. The sound effects are impressive.
