The LSU Nicholson Gateway Development infuses an underutilized 26-acre tract of property across Nicholson Drive from Tiger Stadium from the North Gates down to Skip Bertman Drive with a vibrant mixed-use development that incorporates 48,164 retail square feet, 1,197 undergraduate apartment beds, 332 graduate apartment beds, and 794 structured parking spaces with an additional 762 surface parking spaces.
The program is developed into two mixed use structures, one retail building, seven residential buildings, and a parking facility working in conjunction with the LSU Foundation Building to create the Nicholson Plaza faced with retail, a new campus quadrangle with a University Recreation facility, and private courtyards all set within existing live oaks.
The buildings visually draw from the historic core of campus to claim this property as part of the LSU campus, with a blend of stucco, clay tile, dark bronze vertically proportioned windows, and brick veneer.
Modern, new apartments come fully-furnished and in a variety of layouts, with both 9.5-month and 12-month leases available. Steps away from class and with restaurants, shopping, a parking garage, University Rec Center, and grocery store on site, Nicholson Gateway Apartments is the perfect home for savvy upperclass and graduate students.
LSU announced today that The Simple Greek restaurant and a Baton Rouge General Express Care clinic will fill two retail spaces in the university’s new Nicholson Gateway Development, the newly opened mixed-use development on a 28-acre site of the Nicholson Drive Corridor, between West Chimes Street and Skip Bertman Drive.
The two tenants join anchor retailer Matherne’s Market, fast food restaurant Wendy’s, coffee café Starbucks, apparel store Private Stock and quick-service eatery Frutta Bowls in the roughly 50,000-square-foot retail component of Nicholson Gateway.

Looks a hell of a lot better than what it did.

When did they break ground on this stuff? I was surprised to see the completed sections when viewed from the West Upper deck.

If only it would infuse development/gentrication on the other side of the campus gates from there.

I have to say, they did an awesome job on that area. I drive down Nicholson on gameday and that area is something to be proud of.

Gentrification is a beautiful thing. I wish LSU would start buying property down Highland Rd north of campus

Need to tear down tigerland now and purge all the section 8 leeches. Revitalize and gentrify the area.
With the Water campus going up that whole corridor could be great

It looks nice, but what college student has $7,000 a semester for rent? I lived in Tigerland for $210 a month, and that was less than 15 years ago. I hope my kids don’t expect $7k a month for rent when they go to college. They are going to be disappointed.

I always hated going to work passing those torn up apartments across the street from the track and field. It looks so much better now.

Athletes all live there for free. The regular students have rich parents or loans they will be paying back the rest of their life.

I passed by yesterday and couldn’t believe how much progress was made on it. It looks real nice
