It's not a gotcha post. TD & FB are one and the same.

There's a big difference between posting under JBeam on a platform full of people that don't know you and connecting to friends, family and coworkers on Facebook or Instagram and posting under your real name.

By your standards, commenting on a Business Report article under LSU27 is also social media.

I deleted FB about 2 years ago. I have twitter but don't ever use it. I am slowly weaning myself off Reddit. I still have IG but I only follow those who follow me, and if anyone starts any drama I unfollow.

I can' explain how much getting rid of FB helped me mentally. Yeah the other socials still weigh me down a bit, but FB was really way too invasive.

However my girl has not

I didn't put fb on my new phone a few months ago, gotten all sorts of shite done around the house. My girl hasn't gotten off either. Two weeks into this plandemic, which only affected me by my kids and wife not being at school, I finally had to ask her who the hell THEY is. She looked confused. I told her every time you look up from your phone you say something about THEY said this, and you don't really have to care because that has nothing to do with our reality.

Nope
Message board:

a public electronic forum that allows users to post or read messages or to post or download files and that is accessed by computer over a network (such as the Internet)

Social media:

forms of electronic communication (such as websites for social networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (such as videos)

If this site were social media I wouldn't visit it.

That still doesn't change the fact that he's trading one kind of social media/interaction for another. I'm sure he (Especially since he's been on this site for nearly a decade)has a number of IRL friends that know who he is on here.

Also, one has to question how anonymous TD actually is given the spotlight that has been shined on this place over the last couple of years.

This can't be said enough. People don't realize how damaging it is.

Deleted my FB and FB messenger about three days ago. It's been great. I was on a real unfriending spree before i decided to just take a month or so cleanse.

I deactivated FB last week as well. Feels good, but I do miss the special interest groups.

I feel like Tiger Droppings isn't social media. It's very similar, but since most people are anonymous it changes the dynamic completely. It's still addicting, but there isn't an app or a news feed with notifications sent directly to your phone.

Same here. Don’t miss it one bit. Like Saban said it’s poison. TD is my go to SM now. If chicken ever starts displaying user upvotes and downvotes I’ll check out.

If I had gotten rid of social media I wouldn't have seen this comedy gold.

"police need a four year degree in criminal justice. There should be mandatory courses in deescalation, mental health, coping etc."

Bro, that describes the OT to a T.

The only difference is a layer of anonymity mixed with the ease of posting that makes discussion flow faster here than on Facebook.

And for as dumb as some of the people here are, most aren’t lowest common denominator types that Facebook is flooded with. Facebook is horrible. I haven’t deactivated it, but over the last few years, I’ve only used it like once a week. Instagram is better because I don’t follow annoying people.

I have never done Facebook and never will.

I have TD, Instagram and Twitter, but I don't have my name attached to any of them, Only follow select people and never read any of the comments.

That “only difference” makes all the difference, it seems.

It eliminates virtue signaling and most political correctness. It allows for true discussion without fear of reprisal and damaged reputation in your community, or worse, being terrorized.

The nature of conversation is completely different because of it.
