We were told that we could travel to Florida to go to the beach, but now someone told us that we couldn't go because Florida extended their "not allowing people from Louisiana" come. Assuming this isn't accurate?

It’s 100% accurate in Navarre Beach

They reopened to tourists unless specifically you are from:

The states that would currently not be allowed to book reservations are: Louisiana. New York, New Jersey, lllinois. Massachusetts, Michigan, Maryland, Connecticut, Rhode island, Nebraska, Delaware. District of Columbia. The plan will be re-evaluated bi-weekly adjusted as needed.

Official policy. Unconstitutional and inexcusable.

There are of course ways around it and checking is not strict but it’s still official policy.

I went to Pensacola two weeks ago. They stopped us at the border, made us fill out paperwork, and let us go. Everything is fine.

I'm also flying to Cleveland on July 25th.

Sounds like a nightclub bouncer checking IDs.

This is accurate, Short time rentals are not allowed for residents of Louisiana and three other states. Unless you stay in your rental for two weeks first.

Go read the big thread on the travel board or the big one on year from yesterday if you want all of the details.

But yeah Florida still doesn't want La money since they are fcking basing their decision on us being a hot spot back in late March.

I will be spending my $3-4K this summer in Orange Beach and I'm not sure when I will ever want to go back to Florida.

Really sucks for property owners in Florida but I agree with you.

I know of people who are currently in Florida from Louisiana by car. Whatever you’re reading or hearing from Facebook moms is bullshite. Go by official Florida.gov websites only.

This past Sunday, Florida had shut down their checkpoint on I-10. They had a lane closed, but there were no state troopers or anything.

Not really enforced on people renting, I agree, but it definitely is on the property owners in many places. It’s annoying.

Of course there are La people there. And they were never stopping people from La from entering the state no matter how many times dumbasses have said that.

But as of Monday, the official county rulings came out and they still are saying not short term rentals to La residents.
Some owners are still renting and the hotels can still rent. The damn Sandestin Hilton is the only hotel that I'm hearing won't rent to La people.

I would say something like 60% of these types of rentals go to LA residents. It’s amazing how stupid people have shown themselves to be during all of this Covid stuff. Truly amazing.

A friend of mine on Saturday, booked 4 nights on VRBO for Memorial Day, paid in full.

Sunday, got an e-mail saying her reservation was cancelled and will be refunded in full due to her having an LA address.

Monday, she tried again. Yesterday, got an e-mail saying same thing and refunding.

She then tried reaching out to a couple of local vacation rental companies, all of them said if you use an LA address to book, they aren't allowed to rent.

These were in Ft Walton area.

I would just go to Orange Beach instead. Why risk it? And why give your money to a state that doesn't want it? We went to Orange Beach this past weekend and it was fine.
